So um, anyway, someone who actually saw the movie.

I thought it was excellent, the directing was simply amazing, almost every shot was perfect, especially the one where Natalie Portman is dancing in front of the fire. I was never very impressed by her, but she was great in this Garden State, so was the gravedigger friend Mark. It's easily relatable to anyone who's been torn away from their suburban stupor and reintroduced to it to find that it was probably what they were missing in the first place. The soundtrack is amazing as well. Anyway, its a good film about the overmedicated, emotionless world that a lot of us live in.

That being said, I love New Jersey. Its my home and always will be. Most people who bash it have either only been to Newark airport or on I95 (the turnpike) for as little time as possible.

Newark is the armpit of NJ.

I have to agree. 95% of people who bitch about jersey have only been to Newark.... Which yes, is quite dodgy.....

I grew up in the mountains up north in West Milford, NJ and it was beautiful country up there....

Living in stupid Ohio, no theater is playing it around here. Can't wait to get to NYC.

I wanted to watch this movie ever since I saw the trailer before Eternal Sunshine.

Read the book...same author as The Ice Storm...if you didn't like that, you probably won't like Garden State.

You must be thinking of a different book. Zach Braff wrote it when he was a 5-7 years ago before he was in hollywood. It's also his directorial debut.

Link to book: On Amazon

Link to Movie: On IMDB

You're right. Sorry about the confusion.

just saw this flick and omg portman is cute

i didn't like the movie very much. well actually i liked it as long as nobody was talking, but the dialogue got really boring. most of the character development took place in the form of contrived "revelations." Though of course I can't argue with the development natalie portman has done since the professional.

for a better movie in the same vein, i'd check out something like niagara, niagara.

Yeah I saw this last night, was a great movie, funny, and also had a great plot and acting was great. Not to mention Portman's really cute in the flick

Lawrence Sher, the DP, deserves a lot of the credit.

The soundtrack is awesome, too. The music was personally picked by Braff himself.

Saw it a week and a half ago...I loved it. I think it's great to see Braff doing some stuff on his own, and the writing was just hilarious. Portman did a pretty good job as well.

P.S. I just woke up...apparently my mind doesn't like doing movie reviews upon boot up.

I was skeptical at first about this movie because I tend not to like this type of movie. I hated Eternal Sunshine and Lost in Translation but I actually like Garden State....so dont knock it unless uve seen it..you must be surprised.
