This is correct. 16 is the age of consent and 19 is the age of majority in BC (e.g. drinking, voting, buying tobacco etc.)

The point is that the pictures/videos of the incident constitute pornography. Even though the age of consent is 16, there is a minimum age of 18 to give consent to be a participant in pornographic material. Since the girl is under 18, this is child pornography.

Essentially, multiple guys gang-banging a 16 year old girl with her consent, (whether you find that arousing or disgusting) is legal. If it's recorded though, it's child porn. And if it's done without her consent (as seems to be the case here), it's rape/sexual assault. Here it's without consent and recorded, so it's both rape and child porn.

Out of curiosity, why would you think /b/ would do anything to stop this from spreading? They love this stuff, or are you being sarcastic?

I was on there the other day and they had a whole thread of rape pics going.

This stuff happens at raves pretty often. Some girls are stupid, take too much E and someone comes along to take advantage. My friends saw it happen at last year's Hard rave. I wasnt there but they told me they couldnt believe it themselves. A security guard was standing near by and did nothing as well until the girl's friend rushed in a few minutes later.

You obviously have never been to a rave. Probably 1 out of 1000 people are remotely even sober. Even at that. Half the people probably think she was willing and the other half are probably too high to even notice.

Pretty sure lots of girls get raped but you don't see it go nationwide... I guess it's because the internet made it popular with a video or pics?

Anyway... we don't know the whole story... if she was raped, then that sucks but don't go to raves expecting nothing to happen if you take drugs/drink.

Still could be a regret thing/it's-rape-now, especially with the photos/videos on the net.
 
WEll the articles say her injuries are consistent with rape. And they have arrested two people so far and are looking at charges for the person who posted the pictures on the internet. So if the police are doing all this, obviously they believe this is rape.

Could be poor journalism/reporting that is skewing what the people are saying. :colbert: I'm going to remain skeptical about this situation. Police are more likely going after the people because of the child porn charge. Confirming rape is very difficult.
