If XBL gave out free games and discounts like PS+ then it'd be awesome but they know they don't have to.
I bought a used game last night only to get a "servers have been taken down no online play for you" message. It's not that old of a game and I didn't even think the online play wouldn't work. I know EA's to blame here, but it sucks that XBL doesn't provide servers for all games so sh*t like this doesn't happen. Makes me wonder how many games fall into this category. Now before I buy a used game I gotta check if it's still on-line playable.
that has nothing to do with sony or ms. same games won't work on ps3 too.
this has been happening since ps2 days.
But Microsoft could provide servers so games will continue to work, I know it's more complex than just having random servers. But if the game servers were tied directly into XBL, then I wouldn't have ran into this problem. I'd think the general consumer who pays for XBL will see a game that says "online multiplayer" will assume that = XBL.
Since this is a console forum, I was limiting the comparison between consoles. If you get into Steam, you get into a console vs PC discussion there, and that's a whole new can of worms.
phew, good thing i can make my own decisions for myself and don't need a big corporation to tell me how to think and what i should like.
if people had a problem with xbox live they simply would not pay for it. since people do pay for it, they obviously can afford it and don't have a problem playing with it.
didn't read the whole article, but i'd guess they did not mention that online play on ps3 is a shitty experience compared to 360 for the most part.
also if you are paying $60/yr or $10/mo for xbl you are a god damn moron.
That's pretty harsh. Lots of people seem to enjoy themselves on Xbox Live. Why the hate?
not hating at all xbl is far superior to psn.
but if you pay $60 for a year of xbl you deserve it because if you take 5 minutes extra it's easy to find for $40/yr or less. but if 5 mins is more valuable than $20 then more power to you!
It's not on sale all the time that's the problem so I can see people paying full price for it. You can get it easily for ~$50 but for $40 you have to wait for specials.
They both fucking suck shit compared to Steam.

Got 4 A+ titles for $7 on Steam. Assassin's Creed & Call of Juarez (I don't remember the other 2) but that's less than $2 for each game. Where's those kinds of deals on PSN or XBL?
They both just need awesome Steam-like sales. Console gamers really got shit on this generation compared to PC gamers, when it comes to game resale, pricing & digital content.

Awesome. How do I sign up for that on my console?
This whole thread is hilarious. "Come at me bro!" Seriously? Internet trolls are now calling out people to come fight them, physically, but on a gaming platform? What the fuck have we resorted to? Get a god damn life.

This was some random sale 2 years ago. Out of 150+ games in my Steam backlog that I haven't played, I just can't remember them all.Right... A+ titles, but can't remember their names lol. Anyway, please tell me more about how you can get cheap games from 2007![]()
I don't know about that. Last I checked, Steam had 1800+ titles available in their store. I'm not seeing any numbers for PSN or XBL to compare this.I'm a PC gamer just as much as I'm a console gamer and it'll never be the same. PC game market is infinitely smaller than console market so of course you can get games cheaper than for consoles. Plus sometimes I'll buy a game for consoles even if it's more expensive just so I can play with friends or relax on the couch.
