Gregory Alan Elliott. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Gregory+Alan+Elliott

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUChUrKsEJU (This one explains the situation particularly quickly and clearly.)

Had the verdict gone the other way, we might never be allowed to disagree or criticize a feminist again without severe punishment. Still think this is all just 'nothing'? Or 'exaggerated'?

The push to call critiques "abuse" and have it punished... the push to have all men put on a curfew to keep women safe from their uncontrolled rampant rapey desires... these things are really happening. That's probably half the reason for making such a big stink over all issues great and small - so they can change legislation to favour themselves - either without anyone even noticing, or under the guise of "improving conditions for women and minorities (...but mostly just a handful of specific women.)"

The hypocrisy, cannibalization, and back-stabbing among their own ranks is just staggering... which is almost a good thing because it slows their progress and occasionally shows the world how totally misguided they are.

Thanks for the info. I hadn't seen it before, and it does look like it's a jacked up thing. I did also lookup the stuff on a different site as I honestly don't care for YouTube as a source for news stuff. For me it's never without bias, and I'm one of those people that would much rather read than listen to some idiot tell me what he thinks.

Either way.. to answer your question, no I still don't really see it as a massive deal. While really stupid and even worse things happen in some courts (look at that "Making a Murder show), the first amendment covers me being able to say someone's an idiot. It doesn't cover me going out of my way to the point of almost stalking them to make sure they know I still think they're an idiot, but it's more than enough for me to get my feelings across. You'll never see that amendment changed, so the idea that I'll get thrown in jail for criticizing one of these idiots has as much chance as porn never being produced again. R v Elliott happened in Canada, and honestly I'm not sure the laws there in regards to free speech. In America that wouldn't have ever gone to court in the first place, unless I was stalking them to tell them how much they sucked.

I'm glad it worked out for Elliott better than it could have. Thanks for providing the links, I'm still not sure I can see enough of a deal here, but I can see how you might. I would still like to see something in America that shows this punishment you're describing, but I not going to pretend you didn't provide anything. Odd way of saying I'm not discrediting what you've provided, and while you did answer the question, I'd like to see more.

Twitter is just one company, but its telling what has become the social norm in some tech circles, never mind the media. Jack Dorcey, a billionaire is responding to specific sjw's, Randi has no relevant qualifications to speak of, and yet, she like the others is entitled to personal attention.

Doesn't Dorcey have the right to run his company as he see fit? Doesn't that also mean that you and others that really disagree with they way they run it can go elsewhere? I don't go to places that I really disagree with they way they do things, but I also don't pretend I have any right to tell them how to do things. I'm a bit confused on why there's so much focus on Twitter in the first place. I keep seeing in your posts the arguments between the two "sides" on Twitter but can't really see anything going past that. I freely admit I'm not paying that much attention to this "story" but from what I've seen nothing is really changing. Even the attempt to prosecute someone went no where, and that's the only thing I've really seen close to attempting to change anything. I'm still seeing the same games with new paint jobs, and those new paint jobs still show boobs.

People like Sarkeesian don't change law's simply by going to the UN, they lend legitimacy to social pressure which creates a false impression of public consensus on an issue through a drum beat of media promoting the threat narratives, making it "safe" for politicians to enact legislation like the "Harmful Digital Communications" Act in New Zealand.

Not so much attempting to discount the people of New Zealand, but how does that matter to America where Sarkeesian gets the most attention? Is there a chart somewhere showing that she's big in NZ and the people who run that place hang on her words? It just seems really odd that these are supposed to be connected. There are places in the world where having DoA Beach Volleyball would get you beheaded, and I can't stop that.

One other point, a lot of people talk to the UN. They don't really matter to local politics, and the only time I hear about them in elections is getting us out of it because it's a waste.

The change happens beneath peoples feet while they sleep, the activists, the pressure groups lobby and build their cases through agenda studies fed to the media which change the common understanding, until craven politicians like Obama end up parroting their lines, like 1 in 4, 75 cents on the dollar. Do you think Obama really believes those figures? He's a smart man, he can do math, but he panders. And so you have things like the quiet changes the Obama administration has taken to enforce reinterpretation of the title ix education amendments on campus through mandates, which threatened funding for non compliance leading to the dogs being let off their leashes, creating regulations resulting in environments where false accusations thrived.
http://www.nationalreview.com/article/428910/campus-rape-courts-republicans-resisting

As John has outlined, there is now a normalization where such women can act with impunity, free from repercussions for the damage they cause.
"lived experiences" trump fact and reason...<<MAJOR SNIP>>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZFOdc_V4bM

Obama hasn't really been able to do much to stop guns from being sold, something he's constantly talking about. Trying to think he'll sudden go to a stealth war on men is something I can't get behind.

As a private company they do have the right to censor, that is correct, however, people should be informed about just how dangerous such platforms can be if misused.
Elections swing on a few points at times, facebook already has done experiments on its users to see if they can manipulate the moods of its users by controlling what they see. Because of the network effect replacing such social platforms isn't that easy, people go to where the people already are, and at a certain point one has to question whether companies with this level of influence on the populous should be considered a public trust.

There are issues which I don't post because there are simply too many to keep up with. Nintendo is infested with sjw localization people for an example. The issue is that these people change the tenor of discussions to the point where either you are a feminist, or you are a misogynist mra. They create a chilling effect which does affect what games are sold and how they are developed, only through the mass reaction of GamerGate did games recieve some protection from these idealogues. You are right, most people do not pay attention, which is why these people can get away with so much.
These people make threat narratives "real", and then politicians come along to "fix" them.

So its important Gjoni's legal fund meets its goal so he can set precedent to close down that avenue for abuse.

I think you give Twitter too much power. I'm not sure how many people are getting much out of Twitter past someone attempting to be funny. Most of the time, I think people wait until some other source has written up the Twitter stuff and explained what's going on without all the background static that is Twitter. Even then, what's the plan? To Nationalize the platform? That would go over badly, and most likely if they even somehow pulled that off, it's now a government controlled platform which in many ways are much worse than a for profit company.

The first amendment? Tell me, how did that protect Eron Gjoni?

I'm not disagreeing that the system isn't perfect. I'm glad to read in the link you posted that states are enacting laws to block such lawsuits. Hopefully it'll go faster and those kind of things will be a thing of the past. Even then, the first amendment would block someone from going to jail over it, which is what I was responding to. I was given an example of how bad things are, and a guy was in danger of going to jail. That's bad.. not disagreeing on that. The only point I was making was, it's not in America. Outside the border of America I don't get involved as I don't care for when non-Americans get involved in American politics.

I do want to point out two things here..
1. I do not watch YouTube clips on subjects like these. I'm a reading person and every clip I've seen from this thread on YouTube is someone giving their opinion on what's going on. I don't care what other people think on it, I can form an opinion on my own. I also read much faster and don't have the time to spare to listen to a 10+ min YouTube clip.
2. I know you're not writing this post towards me only, but I do start to glaze over at all the pictures. If you're attempting to make a point to something I've written, please don't bury it in a few pictures. I like to understand your point, and I don't want to miss anything. Again, I'm not saying you're writing this at me, but you do bring up a counter point here in between pictures. I almost missed it completely.

The point I'm speaking off...

My point here was as you said. He's not being silent on his war on guns. He's pretty vocal. He's even been vocal on things people would say is racist. My point is I have a really hard time believing he'd be stealthy and silent on anything, let alone trying to put laws into place that are anti-gender.

What games have been killed off by these feminists? What games are in currently in danger on being killed off? I get that there have been some games that got a lot of bad PR, and I get that people that wanted them got together and made sure they happened. I can't remember the game where you went around killing people (at least that's what the claim was) but I do remember that people wanted it enough to make sure it got made.. which is how it should be. I'm not sure I see the link between these Feminists acting like bad Bond villains and destroying all games they disagree with. Doom was hated a lot when it was released and the bad PR didn't really effect it. Maybe I'm not tuned in enough to know what's in jeopardy, that's why I ask.

From Twitter or the whole internet? I really can't get my head around why Twitter is the almighty battlefield for both "sides" of this. It's the same place Kayne West is currently begging for money. That right there should make people question what they're even using the site for..

If I don't think any of her points are valid, which I don't, is there any point in reading those pointless thoughts? One thing I do find odd.. her "opponents" seem to read more of her stuff than anyone else. Isn't it a bit self defeating to give her more attention by constantly reciting and quoting her? In all the time I've read this thread, and while I'm not sure how much longer that will be (every time I think I'm over it, I see a post and it brings a question), I have only read and heard anything she's said because of the anti-posts. If she's really the spawn of Satan and making the universe dumber for listening to her, why do people insist on making sure I hear what she said? If my goal is stopping people from hearing her, it really seems counter productive to make sure people know what's she's saying.

The arab spring.....it still matters.
Twitter is deeply intertwined with the media now whether you use it or not, its the platform the media set rely on now. I don't remember where I saw it but its said most "clicks" are now delivered through social media. Hardly anyone just religiously visits a news website and reads it like a newspaper anymore.
As for regulations, on internet issues, those already exist with dmca's and such, but yes, its a mess. It would be better if enough people were aware of these problems that they would be forced to be more transparent with their users on their policies and how their sorting mechanisms worked, never mind the whole ghosting issue.

I'm not disagreeing that the system isn't perfect. I'm glad to read in the link you posted that states are enacting laws to block such lawsuits. It's not that it isn't perfect, in case after case it doesn't work at all. There is a lot of damage you can do to someone with slapp type abuse of the law without jail ever being a real danger. What happens outside the US matters because again, it normalizes the mentality, the expectations of what is normal, what is acceptable. And no, it won't go any faster than any other area where the laws are consistently abused. Just look at the area more pertinent to tech, patent law, it doesn't matter if you are right, you will simply be sued out of business.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleem!

How will any politician fix this issue? The public narrative is one where the law failed Zoe Quinn, do remember this.

Some people are visual and auditory learners. Nothing I can do about my preference, and sometimes a picture is a thousand words as they say.

My point here was as you said. He's not being silent on his war on guns. He's pretty vocal. He's even been vocal on things people would say is racist. My point is I have a really hard time believing he'd be stealthy and silent on anything, let alone trying to put laws into place that are anti-gender.

He's not silent. The policy changes always sound like a "good idea" so no one pays attention until the repercussions become too hard to ignore. On the face of it, sjw proposals tend to sound innocent enough, because that is what they do, they appeal to the goodness in people, and they take advantage of it. Just look at how far they take the "we must protect people from online bullying" issue.
As for politician's being two faced and doing things which are politically expedient, lets not pretend Obama is above such things.

When America gets someone that is clearly anti-man I'll be more concerned. As it stands I'm just not seeing the change in America I'm being told by this thread is happening.

We didn't get to this point with "clearly" radical people in charge. Even Jack Dorcey, from an outsiders perspective where they only know his media image, he seems like a normal man.

What games have been killed off by these feminists? What games are in currently in danger on being killed off? I get that there have been some games that got a lot of bad PR, and I get that people that wanted them got together and made sure they happened. DOAX3 for one, but that isn't how this works. Left wing SJW's watched Right wing SJW's lose the fight to regulate games out of existence(in america) with Jack Thompson. They now work through social pressure and self censorship.
The ultra violence game was Hatred, why did it get made? Because of the push back. A large portion of the votes to get it green lit were driven by the GamerGate controversy and peoples reaction to attempts at censorship. I posted on it long ago, but when they were successfully greenlit on steam, all the major gaming outlets conveniently failed to report the story after they had campaigned against the game. This was one case where we succeeded, which isn't to say games are safe because for every Hatred I'm sure there is another dev out there being buried for being the wrong kind of person.
The feminist/sjw's gate keep using their control of the IGDA, and games awards festivals like the IGF which are corrupt organizations.
The gaming media is corrupt and will promote and bury games based on their ideology.
And of course academia, and "games studies" just continue to feed this mess. Studying games seems to be the new hip version of gender studies.

We don't live in the doom era anymore. Back then the games media tore Jack Thompson to shreds. The things done to mock that man if done to a woman today would be considered high crimes of misogyny.

No one would care if these people weren't taken seriously. Not paying attention to extremists doesn't make them go away. It's like claiming the way to get rid of radical Islam is to stop talking about them. Its very easy to pretend it would be this easy, its appealing because its so lazy. She isn't the problem, she is the symptom of the problem. How is this person taken seriously by such much of the media, and even academia, while no one in the main stream dares to say anything against her, she is above criticism. She is like the 1 in 4, even people who know it isn't true, repeat it. Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, they have already successfully censored peoples thinking and speech to a remarkable degree, as I stated, even the president falls in line. And you think that its simply the result of people criticizing people like her? No, the ground work for this was laid decades ago.

May seem a be conspiracy on that one but it does reflect a bit of what we've been witnessing.

Anyways, the court case moves forward. Why its not subject to anti slapp I'm sure someone else with more thorough knowledge into the law can explain.

So, do I bravely go to Urban Dictionary, and look up, "curry muncher," or not? This thread gives us important decisions to make.

I'm still trying to find out who this Milo person really is, on a more serious note.

I need to come back later and read all you posted towards my post when I've a bit more time. I do respect you for following through on something you believe in. Even if I can't agree with you on it, it's impressive to see you sticking with it even when there's little appearing to be gained.

There isn't much more amusing than a SJW hysterical over the thought of having to live under the same rules as everyone else.

The Ruby Developers Forum CoC.
The Ruby Community Conduct Guideline
We have picked the following conduct guideline based on an early draft of the PostgreSQL CoC, for Ruby developers community for safe, productive collaboration. Each Ruby related community (conference etc.) may pick their own Code of Conduct.

This document provides community guidelines for a safe, respectful, productive, and collaborative place for any person who is willing to contribute to the Ruby community. It applies to all “collaborative space”, which is defined as community communications channels (such as mailing lists, submitted patches, commit comments, etc.).

Participants will be tolerant of opposing views.
Participants must ensure that their language and actions are free of personal attacks and disparaging personal remarks.
When interpreting the words and actions of others, participants should always assume good intentions.
Behaviour which can be reasonably considered harassment will not be tolerated.

Oh, the horror!

It's pretty much the same with games as it has been with music and movies in the past. Remember Tipper Gore and her crusade against certain music groups? there's no censorship unless you count a parental advisory for explicit lyrics such. It's pretty much like the ratings system for movies giving a movie an R rating.

People have also protested movies, however there are still many movies being made which one presumes just horrifies the "SJW"... Oddly enough I'd probably be called one of those and I thoroughly liked Deadpool it's not perfect but in terms of what it is (revenge action / comedy) it's nearly so with any complaints admittedly very minor. None of them have to do with "Oh my word... why so uncouth and anti-social" political sensibilities.

After the gnashing of teeth about movies and music the end result is more music and movies of many different types being made and in the end games will follow the same pattern.

The only thing that talks for creators of movies, games, and music as far as will it be financed by people with money is ROI. Sometimes one can point to an example and say see it was killed by the bad people... but really the money people just didn't think it would make its money back and wasn't a good investment.

Half-life 3 is in serious jeopardy in part because of these feminists. At this point there's no telling when or if it will be released.

Exactly what I thought it might be, an insult dealing with Indians.

I'm still trying to find out who this Milo person really is, on a more serious note.

He seems to have been reporting out various major concerns and misconduct by SJWs, but it does not seem to me he is worth considering much as an individual. Not totally sure but I am not going to waste time on him. I will read any notable news articles from him however.

Wow, I knew SyFy went off the rails but i didn't think they'd go in this direction. This is a really strange and pitiful sort of exploitation.

Suey Park's Huffpo interview made her look completely ridiculous. This snipped up as little of it as they could to try to support her claims that it was attacking her but even what was there still makes her look bad. She is given a platform to spin things in a way that didn't happen

Suey has even railed against feminists and anti-racists and what have you before, when she thought they weren't taking her seriously enough. Probably because she makes them look bad. For a little bit she even spoke sympathetically with GGers and embraced them hitting on her, which I'm sure made that side even more pissed with her.

There's some seriously messed up shit in this but I just have a hard time trusting it. That none of this intense real world stalking and threats led to anyone being caught and prosecuted, that this all came up just now for the special. Are her circumstances really so unique that she got hit so much harder than anyone else? And if these are such menacing people who are so unstoppable doing this show is a really bad idea.

You're wasting the little time you have on this earth with this.

Why?

Because at root, it's a battle between people who believe in freedom of expression and those who wish to overturn the First Amendment (either de jure or de facto) and ban politically incorrect speech.

One authoritarian feminists has even been quoted as saying, "Disagreement is harassment". Think about the practical implications of that statement.

That's what the whole thing at the United Nations was about, that criticism toward women or feminism should be considered "violence", and people should be punished for it.
You see the same argument right here in P&N all the time.
