I thought you meant they received grants from the government that were non-college related. As I've worked for a few studies groups in the past, I've seen those grants given out. I've never heard of one for any time of video game, let alone one for being a fem-idiot hating video games. Even then, I'm still failing to see how them being fem-idiots got them college grants, not even sure how you'd find that info out as they hand out college grants like candy so unless it said straight out "I'm a grant for fem-idiots that hate gamers" you'd be really hard pressed to prove their feelings on video games did jack shit for them. This lie, that has been propagated by many web sites, is in my eyes every bit as bad that she traded sex for coverage in the first place. This man has been slandered endlessly by the media, and the few who did interviews with him completely lied about their intentions and butchered the hell out of what he said to make it sound like something completely different.

I don't have the source right now (I'll try to find it later), so you can feel free to take this with a lot of salt for the time being, but shortly after the blog went live Zoe Quinn made a Facebook post about how she was fearing for her life because of her psycho ex, and it had a ton of lies in it (some of which were just absurd). Her Facebook friends included journalists who would go on to write about this, such as Leigh Alexander. So many things have come up that show her to have a history of lying and manipulating people.. and that's not very interesting in and of itself because there are a lot of people, men and women, that this is true for (I'm sure we've all dealt with some ourselves). But these days over and over again I see people like this of the right political persuasion given pretty much free reign in shaping and controlling media narratives and it's a pretty dangerous thing.

I wonder why... look the Zoe Quin post was a spew of hatred around the allegation of sex for good coverage of a game. If the writer of that post left out the private conversations and simply said "Hey, maybe you guys might want to know that the writer/publisher of game X is in a relationship with a journalist of publication Y which covered game X" without said private correspondence being made public or the name calling the conversation could have been more rational...

Zoe Quinn's ex didn't want that... sure he might have valid complaints about her and there are issues with game news publishing, as evidenced by updated or newly adopted "ethical standards and policies" by some sites. But it very quickly became fodder for the culture war.

Kind of sad, since I have seen good rebuttals to some "tropes" points made... but too many of them just can't resist making personal attacks after making the rebuttal...

Yes, a whole 3 minutes into the first video which had close to a million views before he closed his channel that first time.

If on reverses the genders, this Quinn person would have been labeled as a monster by most everyone, including the gaming press, which reveals the real sexism in this situation and still prevalent in society.
Those very game sites and other media had no problem reporting on just the accusation of sexual misconduct by others including by the guy who created the cards against humanity game, so its not outside their standards to cover this issue, as long as it only was about men.

The Zoe post which clearly depicted an abusive relationship, during their interaction after the release, it wasn't denials from Quinn, it was an attempt to guilt him into still being sexually exclusive to her.

The Zoe affidavit only continues the abuse as Quinn deliberately misleads the court into believing Eron released revenge porn, leading to a gag order and his current rather significant legal fees.

They don't show up looking like that based on circumstances out of their control, as such, along with the fact that they have deliberately inserted themselves as public figures into the discussion, they have made themselves valid targets.

These people have had their ethical breaches proven. Any mockery thrown their way is deserved.
