For a month of having a CEO of the Reddit website be in court there has been little to no discussion on the default subreddits.

Of those 20 posts only one ever made it to front page and that post was made on Monday Feburary 23rd to /r/news.

Every other post made has only gathered something like 78 points which in the past has been due to moderators of a subreddit removing it from /new/ queue for a time period before putting it back near the end of a submission lifecycle. (soft censorship)

The discussion for this story appears to be highly talked about in non-default subreddits but is unable to make it to front page as it is surpressed in default subreddits. "

I haven't seen it referred to as a 'gate' thing, but the crap that gamergate is complaining about has been going on for years in comics. The key differences are no one's pretending it's about 'ethics in journalism' and the younger set are screaming that comic's "Boys only club" has fallen and everyone should get on board with the non-offensive train. All the comics sites I've seen (at least all the ones that don't look ran out of their basements) are on board and will shame the companies for doing something like drawing Batgirl scared by the guy who assaulted her.

Ever wonder why we can't have intelligent discourse at all? Because when someone has an opposing viewpoint the vast majority of feminists resort to the same "tactic" you just used -- mocking, insults, and assuming the very worst of the person.

People who can think clearly and see the facts for what they are keep trying to point out various fallacies and/or problems out to the followers of whatever doctrine it may be, but the vast majority of those followers are utterly immune to logic or reason and are emotionally devoted to their "righteous cause" regardless of all opposing data.

Just to be clear, the artist requested the cover be removed due to his personal beliefs. DC only honored the original artist and had no intention of not using it. If anything there's linkage out there showing that DC requested the creepy cover and have been unapologetic about it. While I love the cover, in so much as it really does call back to a defining point in that character's 'life' I also believe that the original artist can do whatever they want with it.

That literally never happened. You're repeating lies that took hold because they were salacious, not based in reality. This is the biggest problem with Gamergate; their biggest talking points are all demonstrably false, and it makes it impossible to have an honest dialogue. We keep coming back to a lie that was disproved 7 months ago.

I heard about the whole thing with Sky Williams when I woke up, and I was watching some of the broadcast this morning. I haven't gotten through it all yet, but I saw a comment from Jesse Cox, one of the streamers/YouTube personalities that I follow, that sort of made me raise a brow. He essentially tried to equate a female's breasts to his comedy in that both are used as part of their shtick. My issue with that is that I see a big difference between someone being humorous and someone putting on a push-up bra. One requires talent... the other requires a trip to Victoria's Secret.

Personally, I don't really care if someone wants to go the full gambit with a push-up bra, a low-cut shirt and a MySpace angle on their webcam. It doesn't hurt anyone at all, but it isn't exactly a very classy/professional way of attracting potential viewers.

I'm not disagreeing with your post, but I would like to point out that while the allegations were false, it did start the ball rolling to get people and sites to be more clear about potential conflicts of interest. The latest example is how Valve is forcing Steam Curators to be very explicit about any sort of paid endorsement (article).

The most unfortunate thing about this whole issue is that rather than be civil over disagreeing with potential bias with Zoe Quinn and the game editors, they overreacted and treated all parties poorly. People need to use civil discourse, and actually talk to the parties involved. Imagine how much different this situation would be if interested parties simply stated, "We saw that some of your editors might have had an undisclosed relationship with a game creator that they covered. This seems like a conflict of interest." Although, let's be honest... that's expecting way too much from the loudmouthed denizens of the Internet.
