You know perfectly well that, right from the beginning, this has been about social justice types trying to inject themselves and their BS into this corner of the world - journalism being only part of it.

Holy hell, how old are you, 14? If you're really so insecure that you see a real threat in any potential loss of explosions and cheesecake sex in your games, you need to grow the hell up.

Moreover, you make completely unsupported claims that, as with a lot of the sweeping statements you've offered in the past, are objectively, unquestionably bullshit. Hey, hi, remember Overwatch? It has plenty of female characters (including ones that are purposefully non-sexual) and minorities. It has a lesbian character. It has an autistic character. The game just racked up its 30 millionth player and was one of the most popular and highly acclaimed games of 2016, and I see many more women playing that than I do other shooters. There are other successful games that clearly focused on diversity and toned down the pandering to entitled white boys, but this is the textbook example.

Not to mention that you have this odd notion that the developers of all these games both expect and require Call of Duty-level blockbuster sales to be considered successful. I don't think Nina Freeman ever planned to retire off her income from Cibele, or that Ubisoft would consider Life is Strange a failure because it didn't sell as well as Far Cry. Despite what you claim, the goal was never to replace the usual AAA shoot-em-ups with sensitive dramas. It's just about creating a space for those culturally savvy games, and acknowledging that the world won't come to an end just because a game's story doesn't revolve around a man's power fantasy.

If this isn't fought hard enough, it can change the entire culture around video games. With movies being such a large part of society, the MPAA has actually changed much more than just "movie culture" it has changed American culture and values.

I understand the concern involving formal ratings, but this is purely voluntary and more about expansion of perspectives, not censorship or replacement. It's not the death of culture because the lead character in a game is a woman, or if the story is some heart-wrenching personal introspective instead of "kill all the aliens." The mindless shoot-em-ups and male-led games will still be around.

This is the same unresolved argument that started this whole thing so long ago. You SJW type never stop trying to inject your politics and message into every media platform there is, including gaming. Those "diverse" character backgrounds were injected in there for your sake - thankfully it has ZERO effect on action gameplay so no one gives a flying fig about their sexuality or religion, only which runs faster, jumps higher or shoots harder.
...but thanks for inadvertently agreeing that social justice IS being injected into gaming. Speaking of the same Overwatch, it was your types that fought very hard against it because some of the female characters' poses were "too sexy", etc. Other games where social justice was part of the story and gameplay fared poorly, just like similar movies and comics.
