Cersei is a pretty haughty character? I think she is playing her too one-dimensionally though.

Perhaps that is what you meant and we are on the same page.

Cersei, like all the characters in this series, is complex, and I think right now she is just 'that bitch'

At the beginning of the series, a few of the characters seem more one-dimensional than they really are. I think Jaime and Cersei fit that description.

True...[book spoiler]
even in the series, for me Cersei didn't really become multidimensional until we see her interacting with her father, and after that when things start going down with the siege of King's Landing. There were some *brief* sparks of that before, such as when she was interacting with Ned before the badness goes down.

Anybody else think Lena Headey is playing Cersei too obviously haughtily?

I have small issues with the way Lena plays her as well. But to me, it's like she doesn't seem bitchy enough, in a way. Or maybe I expected her to be bitchy in a different way. She seems to always have a smirk or a grin on her face, and while I know she is supposed to be very fake a lot at first, I never really imagined that on her. I always imagined her has pretty straight-faced or slightly frowning, unless she was pretending to be sweet to Sansa or something. She seems a little too nice right now. Also, she's very beautiful, but I imagined her as kinda sluttier. None of that really matters, though.

But in all, I like Lena just fine and I know she's portraying Cersei in her own/the director's way, I'll definitely get used to it and I already think it's good the way it is. It's just always interesting to see whether your own view of a character happens in the screen version.

Sorry for my terrible writing. I am extremely tired right now.

I think it's the perpetual disgusted scowl she has.

I liked what they are doing at the Wall.

The King's Landing scenes are decent but what they are doing with Brandon doesn't really jive with what I remember from the books.

I don't understand why they are changing these little things, I swear in the book
when Daenerys's handmaid saying 'khaleesi you are pregnant' she says 'I know' which I think reveals a big shift in her character, it was intentional, she wanted it to happen. whereas in the series she seems surprised.

This, I am getting tired of people complaining about that scene.

I love when ppl make comments and don't even know the books.

I am thinking more will be pissed at all the unhappy endings throughout the storyline.

they were in the books

Not really. They allude to the handmaiden teaching dany but they don't describe it in detail, and the scene they show in the tv show never actually occured. That being said, I thought that scene was awesome and a worthy addition!

fuuuuuuuuuuu i want to comment so much (I'm actually keeping a list of notes - be it critiques or observations or positive comments for each episode) but i fear reading any of the comments above or engaging in discussion only because i'm only about 2/3rds of the way through a storm of swords.

is everything in here only on the first book, or just up to what they've shown?

yeah well a lot of the porno shit isn't necessarily in the same in the books, nor as described in such detail, so i just think that is the 'HBO Touch'

Anyone else NOT find the character (actress) Daenerys to be hot or sexy?
Sure, she's got decent tits, but she's just not that good looking.

It's so hard to watch something like this when you know everything that happens next. I do find it amazing that seeing some of this stuff that I've read two or three different times still manages to evoke some of the same emotions one would get from reading it the first time. That, to me, means they have just nailed it thus far.

I agree somewhat, it's easy to evoke hatred with characters like joffrey. Making me see the depth in jaime and cersei seems a lot harder.

I don't think she is drop dead gorgeous, but I certainly wouldn't turn her away.

average hot if there is such a thing?

just as when i was reading the books, i wish i could fast forward the show to parts of the story involving arya, snow, and tyrion.
