Well, this thread has taken an odd turn with blanghorst calling someone a partisan hack (also a blind party loyalist) and Nick getting into some fickle fantasies. But I actually just wanted to correct something I posted earlier:

Cool, enjoy the new bridge. What will happen in 5 years, when the bridge needs repairs? More borrowing?

The same thing that would have happened with the old bridge?

D'oh, I did say "new bridge". They're actually doing a major facelift on the old one. (It's going to take 4 months).

Exactly. Some of these guys and their blind devotion to "their" party are ridiculous. Obama has continued many of the same policies that Bush pursued, yet the Obama cheerleaders (like the previously mentioned one) who bashed Bush act as if Obama just gave birth to a litter of puppies and unicorns, as rainbows soared high and harps played in the background.

I like seeing Republicans polling high because to me it means not that Republicans are trustworthy, but that people do not trust Democrats.

Here in Illinois we have a Senate race coming between a crook on the (D) side and a liar on the (R) side! Oh goodie, can't wait 'till I get to cast my vote! Who do I want representing me, a banking insider who helped sink his family owned bank, or someone who lies about his military service?

Probably, like all the talk he did about health care reform being a "slam dunk" that would "easily" pass in the fall of 09 and the Democrats would ram whatever they wanted down the Republican's throats. Instead, a decent-sized portion of the Democrats opposed the bill, it didn't pass until late last year/early this year, and the bill the Democrats really wanted was completely gutted.

I'll hold off on taking any of his predictions as gospel.

Anecdotally, I was talking to someone online this week who mentioned he starts bootcamp this month - and then dropped that 'it doesn't matter because the world will end soon'.

This was followed by 'Obama is really a Muslim'. There are a lot of people like this.
