Gallup - Republicans highest polling since the 1950s

For all the "progressive" high-fiving over recent events, I'd just like to take a moment to point to the scoreboard:

With five months to go before the general election, a new poll finds that Republicans have opened their widest lead yet when it comes to which party voters prefer this fall.

I try not to be a partisan party hack, because I know for a fact I am not in the tank to blindly see one party dominate over another. But, well, sometimes it's fun to point out certain things to others 😀

Pfft. We got our legislation passed. That's the real scoreboard. Today when old people get their SS checks and receive medical treatment thanks to Medicare, they know that the Democrats were responsible. In 30 years when working class families bring their children to the hospital without fear of losing their house, they will thank the Democrats.

If that costs us an election, I'm fine with that 🙂 It won't take very many years of Republican control for the electorate to remember why they booted them out in the first place.

It is all about the team right? Screw the rest of the country provided my team wins.

Proud of that steaming piece of shit legislation? The real scoreboard is fucking over Americans to pass your twisted little agenda.

Yep it seems that way no matter which team you're on. Given the performance of the last group of Republicans who were in charge it doesn't seem them winning will be any better than who we have in now.

wonderful news for Republicans then. When they are in charge of the congress I hope they will have a good agenda and I hope they will do better than the team in charge of the country during Bush 8 years.

We'll see how it works out. Speaking of twisted, we already know how the repub agenda worked out...

And it's not pretty. Repubs face the necessity of running from their own achievements (not ideologically, of course) so they need to tear down the other guy.

Wait, so there is a difference between the two parties? Really? Both parties screw us over, only difference is how and some different rhetoric used.

The shift will take place, as it always has in the past, when Republicans regain power in Washington. People on here who criticize the party presently in power will switch to defense and the people on here who defend the party presently in power will switch to offense.

SOS, DD.

This is so true... except on here who think obama walks on water and that the democrats can do no wrong.

At the very least we will have a split govt. Govt seems to work worst when one party controls the whole show.

I have already stated if Republicans own congress Obama gets my vote in 2012. Republicans could reanimate Reagan and they wouldnt get my vote. I am done supporting single party govts.

How do you feel about the skyrocketing debt? Maybe in 30 years this country will be in complete financial ruin. Will they thank the Democrats largely for that?

True, it did work with Clinton who had a very successful presidency and it did prevent Bush from being even worse than he was.

They will not fear losing their house because the U.S government would have seized it and sold it to a Chinese investor to pay for the obamacare tab.

How many conservatives will be elected over big-gov neocons?

Many Republicans need to be thrown out, starting with McCain. Consider that political race the ever slightest bellwether. If he wins you can be assured the Republicans that regain power will be no different than Bush, and thus a complete betrayal of small government principles and no better for us than Obama himself.

So, pardon me while I sour the grapes, but the Republican leadership needs to go.

I'm thinking maybe three or four. There will be a lot of "fresh faces" pretending to be for small government and fiscal responsibility, but I suspect most of them will get swallowed by the zombie horde of lobbyist whores - and like it.

The GOP hasn't been in flames long enough to burn off the slag. I foresee a lot of false conversions in 2010 and 2012, and not a lot of change. It'll be a continuation of Bush - Obama - [insert next big debt corporatist here]

you mean in 30 years when our kids and their will be paying for all of this?
dumb dems are dumb.

Oh how short people's memory is. I am amazed at the see saw effect these parties have. One group will be in power and show how incompetent they are then get voted out, only to have the same scenario repeated over and over.

Nah, I'm sure Boner and McConnell will provide excellent leadership.

I'm not even a democrat, but, uhhhh, the scoreboard is the people in office. The scoreboard is still very heavily tilted in favor of the Democrats. If you want to talk schoolyard trash, maybe you'll get a chance in November, but not now.

:hmm:

The government spending prevented the economy from further collapse, they're doing a major facelift on a bridge near my house, and they're finally fixing the roads. Goverment debt is, generally, not good; but we're borrowing for a very good reason. You don't balance the budget in a recession, you do it when the economy is growing... like it was from 2002-2008. How did that work out?
