Getting it. BUT, I only have to spend up to $150. This is why evga rocks. 🙂

You haven't even seen the product's results yet?

😕

I'll wait until there is competitive pricing, which looks likey to be around the R600. I might even sit this first round out and jump on the refreshes.

Is there any credible speculation on G80 parts pricing in the US/Canada? I've read a bunch of the thread but there is painful fanboyism I can't stand to read. I've read $650US launch price for 8800GTX. Yikes.

Thanks for any info 🙂

Oh, I'm in no matter what...

I should be able to do an eVGA step up for two GTSes for under $100 or dual GTXes for ~$400. It really depends on if the GTX requires watercooling and what the power consumption is which way I decide to go.

Now, it will depend on how well the actually perform whether or not I will keep both or one of them. Either way, they will perform better and have a much higher Ebay resale value than my current cards.

There is nothing to bicker over. The 7900GT (SLI) is twice as fast as a 7800 GTX (roughly equal to 7800GT SLI). the 7900GTX is faster than 7800GTX 512mb.

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

What are you on?

TWICE as fast? 😕

They even said:
For a comparison between the original 7800 GTX and the 7900 GTX, simply imagine that the 7900 GT has a different label.
Meaning that the performance between a 7900GT and a 7800GTX is very minimal. Needless to say, two 7800GTX's would be no competition.

Well, pardon me for forgetting a word in the previous post!

Who really bought a stock 7900GT anyway? the vast majority of 7900GT's are clocked higher than default anyhow. and the entire 78xx/79xx series is easily twice as fast as nv4x was.

Thats what I like to hear!

I'm in no matter what also.

As long as it out performs my 7950GX2 which we know it will.
Thats enough for me 🙂

Plus, I have a reason, I need to feed the 37" monster in my sig 😀

I'll step up to a GTS once i get my 7900gto. Hopefully my trusty OCZ 420w Powerstream won't let me down. 30A on the ONE 12v rail FTW!!🙂

Lol. That has got to be the funniest post I have ever read. I'll be back in a minute after I go clean up from wetting myself.

What "one" word would have changed to claims of three posts?
...and the entire 78xx/79xx series is easily twice as fast as nv4x was.
Not initially, which is what we all were saying. Sure, a refresh of the G70 (the G71's) will be twice as fast as the 68 series, but we were trying to explain to you that a refresh of the same GPU design (i.e. 7800 to 7900) has never yeilded a peformance that doubled the initial model.

It would be awesome if G80 and it's refresh broke that trend though, but lets not get carried away with refreshes when the initial GPU hasn't even debuted.

Not sure if I missed it yet?

Has akshayt called the G80 "crap" yet?

If not should we get a pool started as to when. 🙂

Sorry couldn't resist.

My early apologies 😀

PS3 FTW

If you can buy one... 😉

PS3 FTW
but
PS3 games for $70.00 :Q No thanks

A few things from the hints thrown around at b3d...

I guess the 12k 3dmark was wrong. The latest developer driver had a lot of optimization according to rumor. So 16k in 3dmark06 is the rumor. keyword rumor

128 "Stream processors" != 128 scalar ALUs, so this is a good thing. In my earlier post I said that if it's 128 scalar ALUs(which can only do one component per cycle) G80 won't be a huge monster. But this isn't the case, so we're looking at a huge performance increase.

Supposedly.

Ditto.

6800U to 7800GT did not double performance. ( Besides, these are different gens )

7800GT to 7900GT absolutely did not double performance. 7900GT is only slightly faster than a 7800GTX. And a 7800GTX in no way shape or form was anywhere near twice as fast as a 7800GT. Like I said. Keep it real. You are pulling these comments out of some nether region.
