Before today, if you told me that I was going to lose my cool over one dollar, I would have said you're crazy. It was just one of those things. Principle, and the sheer rudeness of the guy not giving me a straight answer and trying to herd my ass to the back of the 20-person line just so we could "discuss" the matter further.

Like I said, I've never done anything like that before.

ok, I buy that, people can do absurd stuff just for the principle. you should go to a different subway and see if they do the same.

I dont know why but when you mentioned to be careful of the Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich I automatically assumed this was going to be a gross story about the Ranch

boy, I'm glad I was wrong...

So you thought it was a good idea to post how you made an ass out of yourself in public. Good Job.

I find it utterly amazing that although I rarely visit these forums, I can always count on seeing one of your beautifully insightful posts. :hands you the "Most Consistent Forum Ass" award:
That's because so many idiots like yourself feel the need to post something about his/her extremely mundane life mistakenly believing that it might be of interest to others.

Hey my life isn't all that interesting either but you don't see me creating threads about some minor irritants that's part of everybodies daily life. You see I understand that it's really not interesting and I don't try to waste the time of others by creating a thread about them.

I forgive them. It's the community nature of this forum for some of the people to be complete pricks by default. I don't know why, but it's fine.

It's not about the dollar!! For the love of God, step out of your little boxes and tryyyyy to grasp the concept of principle and spontaneous reactions. I'm sure if this happened to all of you, you'd just smile, shake the guy's hand and walk out whistling.

Yeah, what you do is much better. Making 33,000 posts pointing out what douches people are. Kept it up, Champ.

This is OFF TOPIC. Just letting you know if you haven't noticed in the many years you have been here. You also might think someone with your "experience" in this forum that you don't have to read nor reply to anyones posts. Your wasting your own time right now.

Nah, I don't have the follow-through for that. They'll probably just send me a voucher for a free cookie that takes 8-12 weeks to arrive.

The tantrum didn't help you much, but I understand why you're angry. It's not legal to advertise a Chicken Bacon Ranch for a set price, and charge extra for what's listed as standard on the sandwich. I would guess it's a franchise that's trying to scam extra bucks.

Do it anyway. Get corporate to come down on them and make them behave ethically.

I didn't mean to be a prick. It is just that every single experience at a fast food resturaunt has always been the same: look at the board and decide what I want, figure out how much it is going to cost, communicate order to person behind counter, wait for them to tell me how much it will be, compare that with what I figured out earlier and either pay it or decide differently. I mean, if I cannot be bothered to check how much it is going to cost then I am most likely wealthy enough to not care if I lose another dollar.

Yeah seriously. It's not about the amount. If something is obviously listed in the title, you shouldn't be charged an additional fee with it.
Don't know if all Subway stores have the extra charge, but imagine how much Subway makes from charging an extra dollar to every person that orders the sub.

Indeed. In my original post I didn't hesistate to mention that I was a jerk for the way I handled it. I just got upset. Then I thought I'd relay the story to the OFF-TOPIC forum to let people casually read it if they CHOSE TO, and then see what they had to say about IF they wanted to say anything. But it's just too mundane of a story to warrant a home here. I'm sorry I posted, Red Dawn. It was never my intention to force you to respond to this.

I tend to agree with the OP... They advertised it as a "Chicken BACON Ranch". If the bacon is extra, why's it named that? I think you ought to write to the corporate office and see what they say... The practice sounds pretty slimy to me.

I find it funny to hear people slamming him for this, with all the people in AT Hot Deals forums who complain bitterly about the obvious price mistakes when the site cancels the orders. They talk abotu class action law suits, never shopping there again, how they owe them for their trouble, there was a contract when they authorized the credit card, etc. Even when the website's have policies and notices in place about pricing errors... But here's a guy who was advertised one thing, got charged a whole different amount, and he get's slammed for asking about it... Geez, people make up your minds.

Edit - I just found the contact us form on thier website... I invited them to this thread... It would be interesting to hear the corporate office's stance on it.

But that cookie would have cost you a third of what you orginally ranted about. :)

Instead of creating a thread, you just add to it with little things that irratate you. Great way to prove your point.

Moral of the story, don't go to subway. There are plenty of other good sandwich shops around, and Subway is not one of them. They use sub-par ingredients, and overcharge for what you get.

I didn't complain. I went up to get my dollar refunded. I didn't charge up there complaining from the get-go. I complained and lost my temper when he treated me the way he did.

And yeah... a free sandwich enticement might just turn the tides. Might be worth a call afterall.

I don't get why everyone is getting so pissy over this.. it's like going to a deli and seeing a BLT advertised for $2.99. You go to the register and it rings up $3.99 because bacon is extra. I'd be upset, too. I wouldn't throw a tantrum, but if this guy was having a bad day I can see it happening if the manager was being a dick about the situation.
