This is trumped by state and federal "bait-and-switch" laws. If you advertise the price of a Chicken Bacon Ranch sammich at $5.99, and then charge extra $1 for the bacon which wasn't clearly marked on the pricing menu chances are good it's illegal. Screw corporate, call your Better Business Bureau. They'll be able to tell you pretty quick how legit it is, and if it's illegal they'll tell you who to call to bring the rain of legal hellfire upon the store.

Actually you're wrong. They ripped him off and if he reports them through the Subway website, the owner of that Subway will get a letter from Subway with a copy of the complaint and asking him/her to resolve the situation.

They are breaking Subway guidelines and if the monthly Subway inspector notices this they will be marked on it for being out of spec.

I know all this because my friend owns a Subway.

Hell, my friend got marked out of spec by the Subway inspector because he was missing one of the toys in the display case and another time because the toaster was off and it's supposed to be on all day according to Subway guidelines.
