how is he a jerk? its his money. he can do whatever he wants with it. and besides, most of these panhandlers are able bodied people who can find a job easily if they tried harder. atleast try to sell something like the sidewalk vendors in nyc, instead of jsut flat out asking for free money

That was one of the two things I hated about Washington DC.

1) The goddamn beggars. They get you on the way into the store AND on the way back out. "I said no the first time you bloody hag, if you ask me again I'm likely to hit you."

2) Everyone walking around like their ass is on fire for fear of getting mugged.

Just, however you treat them, be careful. We just had an attorney stabbed to death at lunchtime, outside of a restaurant in an affluent part of town, one block from an elementary school, apparently by a homeless man who took only the cash in his wallet.

Legal concealed carry would do wonders for that town.

Wow, what a topic...!

Panhandling is now legal here in our city and I think it's one of the worst moves our government has made. People are on every corner downtown, and they'll even come into businesses, the universities and churches to beg. My biggest problem is that these panhandlers can get downright pushy and some even act as though it's their right to demand money. I don't have a problem with helping people out, but you've also got to consider why these people are out on the street. I am not saying this is the case for all panhandlers, but if they were able to manage their money correctly, would they be begging? One good thing the city has done though is implement this key program. You buy a key for $2, and if someone tries to beg for money for food or something, you give them the key. It gives them directions to a shelter where it can be exchanged for a meal, a new set of clothes and a shower. The money goes into programs to get these people off the streets and living normal lives like the rest of us.

You know what's really ironic though? First our government legalizes panhandling, then they put posters all over the city warning citizen's that "7 in every 10 panhandlers will use your money to feed an addiction". What's up with that? 😕

God, I wish it was like -10 out or something.
Then maybe they'll migrate down to Florida or something where the living costs are cheaper.

HEY I don't want these bastards down here! 😀

Panhandlers are like animals in the wild... The more you feed them, the more they learn not to fend for themselves. Be environmental; don't give money to the bums.

All you gotta do to get a rise out of them:

Take a 5 dollar bill and burn it in front of them, and drop the remains at their feet.

If I throw in a quarter to that, that's 5 Spicy Chicken Sandwiches at Checkers 🙂
Those are so good.

I had some Fish Sandwich today at checkers for lunch. Those were great as well.

I wanna see one of these "pans". If you're so skilled at handling it, Mr. Bum, why don't you cook me up a little something and I'll give you a dollar.

Good thing that I stopped carrying around real money. Now all I carry around is a debit card.

Pretty soon they will be carrying around wireless debit transaction devices...

you're just bitter because you live in new jersey.

my girlfriend and I had some leftover indian food we were trying to give away, but none of the cambridge homeless people would take it, "i don't like indian food," or, "too spicy for me."

Yeah i ran into one yesterday. I was going to Carl's Jr for lunch and there was this asian man standing there by the door. he said hello and i said the same and my coworkers and i went in to eat. 30 minutes later, we walk out and he runs over to us asking for some change in very broken english. we said we didn't have any (which i really didn't since i had to stretch the last $5.00 in my pocket on food) and continued on. the pan handler then said, "come on man, i'm asian"
