While I think the airlines do have a history of shoddy maintenance (friend of mine was a team leader on one of the major's repair crews & turned them in, ruined her life in the process, but she gets to fly everywhere the airline goes for free for the rest of her life, plus a nice bit of $ in the settlement)...
Anyway, I do expect the airports to visually inspect the runway between takeoffs, I cannot believe a piece of metal this size escaped detection if the airport was doing it's job properly.
Hell, engines fall off of jets, not surprised a chunk of titanium fell off at all.
And Fausto, curse you for "Freedom Toast" it's going to be another useless bit of trivia I carry around in my limited gray matter storage, thanks to you😉

The phrase is" Take a PILL" as in take something to relieve the stress, anxiety, etc.
To say "take a bill" implies you are asking for the respondant to help you pay your expenses or to help themselves to something from one's wallet. Neither of which make any sense.

I'm sorry, I should have eased you into that personal relevation more easily. I'm sure that was a bit of a shock since most are blissfully unaware of their own idiocy, but you'll learn to live with it eventually. Remember, sometimes it takes a setback in life for us to grow. 🙂

No, I'm one of those adults who is often disgusted by the absurd garbage that rolls off the keyboards of my fellow adults. I noted in another thread that you have children; you may find it interesting to note that all victims of this crash were other people's children. Funny that.
That's because your idea IS totally stupid.
Looking at JUST CDG Airport and JUST Air France flights (63% of flights from CDG airport are Air France, the Concorde airline), 647 flight take off daily. That's ~26 per hour. That 1 every ~2 minutes.
Now lets add your ingenious idea of manually sweeping EVERY runway after EVERY takeoff. Lets figure a 6 man crew can clean each runway thoroughly enough to satisfy you that France is doing their due diligence in 30 minutes. And of course, while that crew is out there cleaning, planes cant take off or land for safety reasons. So now, instead of 26 takeoffs per hour, we are looking at 2.... greater than a 90% drop in efficiency. Just for ONE airline from ONE airport. Now multiply that by EVERY runway at EVERY airport in the world for EVERY airline and air travel would grind to a halt.
