I had to deal with ignorant, 'oh i'm a customer, everything must go my way' crap for a long time before I decided to quit such a ridiculous job with ridiculous customers.

word of advise. READ THE F'ING TERMS BEFORE PURCHASING ANYTHING. Lesson learned, now shut up.

Hey oh King of Customer service....read my posts...it's not so much the shipping....it's the fact that they are making me jump through hoops to get it replaced.

Good thing you got out of the CS business....you don't seem to have the attitude for it.

Aren't there some JLH pictures you should be looking at?

its amazing that people only equate good customer service with doing everything you demand. i completely understand them wanting a case number, to make sure you didn't break it on your own and try to get another monitor out of it, but it seems like one bad thing... onto another... and all of a sudden the retailer is just another "pos retailer."

Break it on my own? I just took the damn thing out of the box a couple of hours ago.

What is amazing to me is the amount of slack people cut Newegg. Come on here and post about a problem with them and people start throwing rocks at you like you are a Jew/Gypsy/Homosexual in 1930's Germany.

NEWEGG UBER ALLES!!!! I suppose......

Just got off the phone with Newegg.....I'm sending the monitor back and getting a refund. Even if I wanted a replacement they don't have any. Still pissed about having to jump through hoops to get this resolved though. Really stupid to make someone do that just to get a monitor replaced when they don't have the same procedure for every other piece of equipment.

I've very disappointed in Newegg for this....very disappointed. The only positive thing? No restocking fee like they normally charge.

End of story.......

IBM does... I've done RMA with IBM plenty of times for monitors. All I do is give them the serial number and model number for my monitor, and without asking further questions, they go right ahead and say they'll send me a replacement. I give them my address, and monitor is shipped fedex 2day air, INCLUDED with box and billable stamp for fedex to come pick it up at their cost when I'm ready.
No credit card deposit needed, nothing. Just name and address. You could probably give them a false name and they probably can't do anything about it.

I think NEC does this too, I'm not sure why they told you to send it back to your vendor...

Sony will.

They need a credit card deposit, but they will cross ship a monitor if one under warranty dies.

samsung did for me twice. not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing. bad monitor good service i guess. :)

It's not NewEgg's fault the unit was defective. It's the manufacturer's. In this case, I think you should get the case number from NEC, get the RMA from NewEgg and get reimbursed your shipping from NEC. That way, no one is out anything.

You gotta have a black monitor? Does it have to be new? I just ordered a refurbished ViewSonic P95f+ for 171.87 shipped. Couldn't get another $150.00 Hot Deal, so I finally bit the bullet and ordered the more expensive one. The two I got are PERFECT, and Best Options Direct doesn't dick you around if it's DOA either. They emailed wnied a UPS return label when his wasn't working right.

Edit: Holy crap, just looked at my invoice, and it says they're sending me a ViewSonic P95f+b, which IS a black one. Check and see if they'll send you the same.

Sadly, FedEx Ground will not insure LCD monitors for shipment - or, at least that was their policy about a year back when I tried to ship an LCD monitor. They would have been about the cheapest, but, then that leaves UPS Ground which will cost a little more.

newegg didn't open up your product and break it...they list all their policies before you order...sometimes when offering the best prices on the most products you have to drop a service, in this case that's paying for your rma...if they added $5 to the cost of every product they sell and then paid for rma's that would only make everyone pay more

Pffftt, how often does NewEgg have the lowest prices on anything? The story I always hear, is that their service is so awesome, it's worth the few extra bucks.

Would it be possible to do a charge back on the shipping charge with your credit card? I'd give it a try. Its not your fault it arrived dead.

I hooked up a NEC 19" LCD that my boss gave me for my "home-office". Now I see once you go LCD, you'll never go back to CRT. I'd rather get a bonus thou. this is better than nothing I guess.

KDS monitors will cross-ship. They may even pay for shipping to them, not sure though.

It should only cost around $15-$20 to ship it fedex ground at a sort facility.
Also this monitor is a CRT, and not an LCD, so there is no such issue you are talking about.
