Why not just wait a few days, call up NEC and have them send you a new monitor via RMA?

I've had them pay return shipping on other, smaller, things when they had to be returned.

Key word "smaller". It would probably cost them all the profit of selling the item to ship it back. They have done it before and it states it is your responsibility to ship it back. Just because they have been nice about it before doesnt mean they are obligated to do anything. Take it in stride and continue to shop newegg because this is going to be one of the lesser problems opposed to getting completely fvcked by tigerdirect or something.

I'm not concerned with their profit. They sent a dead product, it should be their responsibility to get it back and send out a new one. Instead they are acting like I'm trying to send them a bag of sh1t or something. Why in the hell should I have to call NEC back? Which I am on hold with right now by the way. I've never had to call ATI when I got a bad video card from Newegg that was built by ATI.

no really its not because what we pay them for shipping isn't what they pay the shipping company.

Well most likely newegg has a deal with nec for warranty's. So you have to make a phone call *shivers*. If you dont like the ups and downs of buying and selling online then dont do it. There is probably a best buy right down the street. You are complaining about something that is in there TOS and you agreed to it. Deal with it. And I hope your post doesnt effect others opnion of newegg just because you are throwing a hissy fit.

What I am complaining about is their moronic policy of making me call the manufacturer to get a case number before Newegg will give me a RMA number. Never had to do that before. It's stupid. Why should this particular monitor be any different than their other products? It's f'ing stupid. They have sent me dead or defective products in the past and never made me jump through hoops to get them replaced....but send me a dead monitor that costs $320 and boom....suddenly the return process is a pain in the ass.

Anubis - It's one thing to return something that he wasn't happy with. It's another for him to pay shipping to return a product that was DOA. By this logic, he's being asked to tack on the additional shipping bill for a monitor that IS SUPPOSED TO BE WORKING.

Btw- Isekii beat me to it but Dell pays your shipping. In fact my last Dell laptop they sent me a replacement WITH a return Airborne box and stamp to return mine in.

Sony will.

They need a credit card deposit, but they will cross ship a monitor if one under warranty dies.

So does Crucial.

Just request an RMA online...they may give you an RMA number. Dealing with people can be a pain sometimes.

Also, you pay to ship it to them, and they'll pay for the shipping back to you. At least thats how it worked with my newegg RMAs.

BTW: Great Topic Title. Best laugh I had all day.

If it's in the TOS that you agreed to at order time, no one should be bitching. If it's just a "company policy" that was not posted, then there may be an argument. Just stop shopping at newegg too, less cry babies there will make it easier for them to help the rest of us out.

apparently a lot of people do not read Terms and Conditions. Oh its so easy to click, add to cart and buy isn't it. Situations like these are rare. But you should be aware of its background before jumping the gun on being so pissed. I hate customers like you. I had to deal with ignorant, 'oh i'm a customer, everything must go my way' crap for a long time before I decided to quit such a ridiculous job with ridiculous customers.

word of advise. READ THE F'ING TERMS BEFORE PURCHASING ANYTHING. Lesson learned, now shut up.

Talking to NEC now....they are taking my info...said to try Newegg first and get them to replace it. If not to call NEC back and they would replace it with no shipping charges. Also told me to be aware that Newegg usually tries to replace dead monitors with refurbs. Told me that since the monitor is brand new they should send me a new monitor, not a refurb. After 60 days that changes, but for now Newegg should send a new one. If they do not NEC said to contact them for a replacement.

Nice to see that someone at least remembers what customer service is about.
