I received my new NEC 930sb monitor today after placing the order last week. Open the box, take it out, hook it up.........no image....none...nada....zilch...not even a check signal message. Just to make sure I wasn't missing something I call NEC. After waiting for 20 minutes I talk to someone and he tells me "Yeah it's dead. Send it back to Newegg." So then I call Newegg to get a replacement sent out. The guy I talk to tells me they cannot do that. They need me to call NEC first and open a case. I tell the guy I just got off the phone with NEC and that they said to return the monitor and wouldn't open a case since IT JUST ARRIVVED TODAY!! He says sorry, that's our policy. Tells me to call NEC again, open a case, then contact Newegg with the case number, then they will give me an RMA #, I have to box the monitor back up, take it wherever to have it shipped(paying for shipping of course), then when they receive the monitor they will send me a new one. BS!! Complete and total BS!! I have bought a lot, and I mean a LOT, of equipment from Newegg and other online vendors and this is the first time I have ever run across such an idiotic procedure. F that! I'm going to box the bad boy up, send it in, get my $ back, then buy a monitor somewhere else. Thanks a lot Newegg.....hope you are happy. You just ran off a longtime and loyal customer.

They sent me a dead fvcking product. I shouldn't have to do the leg work to get it replaced. They sent out the dead equipment....it's their responsibility to replace the damn thing with one that works. I sure as hell shouldn't have to pay shipping.....that's fvcking outrageous to expect someone to pay to ship a dead product back. I returned a dead video card to them a couple of weeks ago. Didn't have to pay shipping then.

You agree to a non-refundable shipping fee when you order a product from Newegg. Don't read Terms & Conditions? Too bad, you lose.
 
try calling back to see if you get someone else. maybe they'll be a little more sympathetic.

EDIT: but i dont think that the fact you have to ship it back and they want you to make 1 more call is worth giving up using newegg
 
Just give newegg a bad rating on reseller ratings (and show them this thread)... that might make them change their minds.

I've had them pay return shipping on other, smaller, things when they had to be returned.

Sony will.

They need a credit card deposit, but they will cross ship a monitor if one under warranty dies.

I have. To be honest it's not even so much the $. It's the fact that they sent me a dead product and are making me jump through hoops to get it replaced. They never acted like this with the dead video cards, CD ROM, etc...that I have had to RMA to them.

last time i checked it has been common practace for a company to make teh costomor pay for the RMA shipping, EVERY WEBSITEW DOES IT and has sence the internet started, get over it and grow up

NEC cross shipped me a monitor when mine needed replaced. They just put a hold on your credit card...I did have to pay for shipping but hey, I got a new monitor so I was happy to pay the $16...

Key word "smaller". It would probably cost them all the profit of selling the item to ship it back. They have done it before and it states it is your responsibility to ship it back. Just because they have been nice about it before doesnt mean they are obligated to do anything. Take it in stride and continue to shop newegg because this is going to be one of the lesser problems opposed to getting completely fvcked by tigerdirect or something.
