Im also working on getting another wire loom from a 3SGTE and a MK1 MR2 so I can relocate all the major electronics to behind the drivers seat. It will clean up the engine bay a LOT and make more room in the trunk.
Use this for the cap. take your pick.

Then use this to make it connect to stock fill tube

That's kind of awesome. I wonder how it'd do in AZ with the emissions testing (fuel tank pressure check).
Dont they hook up right to the fuel filler to check that? I wondered how they would react to a vented gas cap.
Err unless that comes with a neck designed for that cap you may have an issue. Looks like a motorcycle fuel door. Could always find a damaged gas tank and cut it up so you have a flush mount.still have filler neck issues...
ha i just spent some time and i came to link

which happens to be the exact thing you just found! and with it hidden behind the c-pillar i doubt most people could find it to open the Gas cap! great mind thinks alike

Hey Fuzzy,
I spent a couple hours last night reading your threads. I am new to the forum but stumbled across your 85 build and your 86 mk1.5 build. I was inspired. I am currently looking to purchase an 85 mk1. I was hoping you could give me some advice. It has 240k Km's on it. The current owner has been up front saying it burns oil heavy, the battery drains if not driven and it has the 5th gear pop out issue. He is asking a 1000 bucks CAD. Is this an okay price for a car in this condition? I like the idea of doing a swap one day but would hope to maybe just tune it up for this summer to drive and then dump money on it through the winter. I live in Edson, AB so I would love to know some of the local places you used for your rebuild on the 4age. This would be a fun car for weekends and not my dd. any advice or wisdom you could give would be greatly appreciated. I am looking at the car tomorrow and going for a test drive. Thanks in advance. I tried to PM you but it wouldn't let me as I don't have enough posts. I apologize for posting in here.
Hooray progress!
And the MR2 inspiration bug has been passed! It's quite contagious.
How's the body? Mk1s like to rot around the rear quarter panels. If the body is solid, it's not bad - battery draining when not used just means it needs a new battery (or it has a parasitic draw somewhere). 5th gear pop out is common with the C50 transmissions. The fix is replacing it with a C52 from a later Mk1. I'm not sure what they're going for now, but I think I paid 150 bucks for mine in 2005.
And..hahah...we infected another one. :awe:
Hey thanks. The body does have rust in back quarters. :| I plan on bringing my flashlight and magnet tomorrow to go look at it. Anything specific I should look at that would make me want to walk away from the car?
