"Bah! I have Opera, I have a firewall, what's the worst that could happen? I can just alt-F4 and then restart the browser if I have to."

Turns out I had left Opera startup at "Continue from last session"...

I hears you can hack het XP registry to remove the "change background" tab from properties. If tahts the case you can set a stupid wallpaper then do the hack.

Tape on mouse and the screenshot trick are both good.

Even I'm walking across the office to a coworker's desk, I press windows+L. No messing around.

Switch primary & secondary buttons on the mouse.

Rotating the screen only works with certain graphics cards + drivers, it isn't a windows feature.

If they have a wireless mouse and you sit nearby, swap it with yours and move it randomly about when they move theirs. Causes much confusion.

Other classics include:
putting something stupid in the startup. Maybe a filthy picture, maybe a small app that calls them an a-hole then shuts down their machine (write in a safety 'bail out' section).

Also, go into word and check the auto correct list. This changes common errors such as teh -> the. What you do, of course, is put their name in, and have that change automatically to "Asshat McPenis" or something equally comical. You can get into trouble for this one though (accidentally mailing the CEO with that name still there for example). You can also have it swap common words such as 'and' to some expletive. Let your imagination run wild.

On some machines such as HPs/Compaqs you can change the machine name in the BIOS, which displays a label when it first loads up, you can set this to something insulting/funny.

Finally, a great one is to swap sounds, so, instead of having the (already annoying) little click as you navigate, you could have the windows startup sound, so every time he opens a new window or goes into a folder, the windows startup sound plays. Hilarity will ensue for sure.

Also, depending on your skillz/time available, you could write a sneaky app that lays in the background and every hour or so makes a farting noise or soemthing.... I dunno.

Change the keyboard input language to AZERTY (French, Belgian). It's close enough to seem like a glitch and extremely annoying to type with, even if you have the correct keyboard. :D

Create a batch file with the following text:

shutdown -r -f -t 0 -m \\computername or ip

Replace "computername or ip" with the target computer. If you're on a domain this will work from *ANY* pc on the domain as long as you are permitted to access it. (test by trying \\computername or ip from the run line. :) This makes it even better as you don't even have to have physical access to the machine and you can do this from anywhere. (VPN for example)

When you verify it works you can use the windows task scheduler to run it as you wish. What will this do? It will RESTART the pc immediately when executed closing all programs before the user can do ANYTHING. If you replace -r with -s it will shut the PC down.

Usually messes with their heads

People used to do that to my laptop. I didn't know how to change it either for a while.

A couple years ago, I made a CD with an autorun batch file that would copy moaning and other sexual sounds over some default windows ones and MSN ones. It was quite funny.

Put a small piece of tape over the mic ont he phone, and when they're trying to talk to someone...they can't be heard, they'll start yelling its quite entertaining!

There was an application out about two years ago that we would install on each others computer in the NOC I used to work in. It was called VirtuaGay. You would be sitting there working away, talking to a customer on the phone and all of a sudden some guy walks across your desktop and starts to strip. The program would send a random guy out on your desktop at random times. No spyware was included with the program which made it even more fun :)

Haha, I did that to a co-worker on mothers day once. He tried calling to wish his mom a happy mothers day and ended up yelling at the phone before he hung up on her!!!
