v8/v6 comparisons have nothing to do with what i was saying. i was talking about cost. if your car cost a lot more, yes it better win. um duh? 🙂
the Mclaren is 800k i believe. but for that you get a nice loaded road car that can hit 240MPH and 0-60 in the low 3sec range. after a certain cost point, its all the same🙂

Well if it had alot of stuff in it either
a.) the guy didn't know how to drive or
b.) no engine work was done
because I know for a fact a TT Supra with a downpipe, exhaust system, boost controller with hi boost set on 17.5 lbs runs a 0-60 in 4.3, has 430 whp, and hits 165 mph rather quickly. And those are minor mods, a supra engine can safely handle 23 lbs of boost with no modification. Total price for this...well for me its 17 grand, but if you bought a $32,000 supra those mods would run you about 2 grand installed..total $34,000. Gotta stick up for my new love. 🙂
For about $70,000 including the car you can get a 1200 hp Supra...that's plenty fast considering you'd be running in the low 10s on street tires.
Now lets see.... A 2001 Supra twin turbo would run you about $55,000 + $34,000 worth of mods, and you get a $89,000 worth of ugliness and still 165mph?

I'd like to hear your definition of ricer. Sure I like the GT3...of course IMO it's for rich pricks who have way too much money. Of course, if I had a choice of a free car, I would choose the GT3 over the Supra, but you work with what you can afford, and the Supra is not a "ricermobile" unless one adds gawdy aluminum wings and stickers galore.
WTF is this? I dont see 1200HP, all i see is 150hp's worth of NOS.
What are we comparing here? The GT3 is a NORMALLY aspirated Porsche (no turbos, no supercharger, no NOS, no special intakes or exhausts) vs. a Supra with twin turbos, NOS and all this fudgeugly sh1t, and i think the GT3 will still own it on the track.
Supra production was stopped in 1999. And 165 isn't near the top speed, that's just when I felt unsafe going any faster. The Jun Supra 1200hp hits 249.9 mph. And I think the Supra happens to look very nice. Top Speed of 235 mph with a 1/4 trap speed of 150+; 1/4 time of 10.41

Dude, you can agrue all you want but we are comparing different things here. Sure your souped up Supra has its large numbers (in theory), but the car was not designed for such high speeds, and its a toyota after all. You said it yourself, you felt plain scared at 165mph, while a GT3 or a GT2 can hit 190+ MHP and still be VERY stable and drivable, and you can cruise at this speed for miles, while your 1200 HP supra can hit that only in a straight line with NOS, for a very short time.
I also think that all this crazy work will get your car used up fairly quickly... I doubt that you will have a good healthy engine in that Supra after doing a few NOS trips. I remember reading about the Lingerfilten (or whatever) Corvette which could hit 220MHP, but only in a straight line and the engine would overheat and missfire after doing that, so they had to rebuild it everytime
I also think that all this crazy work will get your car used up fairly quickly... I doubt that you will have a good healthy engine in that Supra after doing a few NOS trips. First off, I'm not running Nitrous, nor would I ever. Second, I the ride was perfectly smooth @ 165, the fact is that I value my life, and going that fast is stupid (although the Supra was designed to be a fast car). I agree we're talking about two completely different cars. Your's costs more than three time's mine and thus should be better in all aspects. However, for the practical person who wants a daily driver and a track car without spending major major bucks, the Supra is, IMHO, the best car for the job.
you have to be kidding yourself if you think any car doing 170+ mph isn't doing some pretty good wear on its engine. these are internal combustion engines, not turbines😛

I like both cars... honestly... but people who think Supras are ricemobiles haven't see what it could do. A BPU++ Supra will run with a 911 Turbo... I've seen it with my own eyes. A $70,000 Supra is something you'd have to think twice about messing with. That stupid gawd damn movie ruined it for that car and the RX-7... now people think that those cars have magical buttons that will make them go faster just like that. Sorry... those riceboys out there who don't know jack isht about driving and what the hell NOT to put on the car ruin it for car enthusiasts in general... and just to let you know... there are two kinds os Supras... one that is boosted and one that isn't. The normally aspirated ones are usually the ones ricers get since it's cheaper. The Turbo Supras are nothing to laugh at unless they were stock... especially on a roll-on... it will most likely be left for dead at stoplight races due to the lag and its weight... but once you modify it... that car will pull in almost anything short of $200,000 after 3rd gear when the 2nd Turbo spools.
The GT3 engine was based on the 911GT1 of 1998 that totally dominated the GT1 class at LeMans... its one hell of an engine... and that car was made for a racetrack... it held the track record momentarily at the full-length Nurburgring... I'm sure the GT2 should've eclipsed that by now.
