The difference with science and religion, is that with science, you need to prove something is right for it to change. For religion, you can prove something is wrong and it still won't change. Also, scientists WILL change if given sufficient evidence.

I'm going to make a rough analogy:
Science:
"I think the inside of a tennis ball is green or white because that's what the outside is."
"Okay, prove it."
*cuts open tennis ball*
"Okay, the inside of the tennis ball is grey."

Religion:
"I think the inside of a tennis ball is green or white because that's what the outside is."
"Okay, prove it."
"You have to trust me on this."
"Well, lets cut open the tennis ball and look."
"We can't do that, it wouldn't be right."
"Why not?"
"It's just not right."
"Well, I think the inside of the tennis ball is probably grey or something like that."
"I just said the inside is green or white. Not grey."
"How do you know?"
"How do you know I'm wrong?"
"My buddy in China thinks the inside is red though."
"He's wrong."
"Why do you say that?"
"Because the inside is green or white."
"How do you know?"
"Prove me wrong."
"Okay, give me the tennis ball."
"I can't let you cut it open!"

Edit:
When religion and science meet:
"Hey, we cut open a tennis ball and the inside is grey!"
"That's just wrong! The inside is green and white!"
"Here's the tennis ball, it's grey."
"Well, this one is green and white."
"50 people have cut open tennis balls, they're all grey."
"So prove this one isn't green and white, without cutting it open."
"I can't do that, I'm not superman."
"So you admit I'm right."
"No, it's just that the evidence supports that it's going to be grey."
"That's just a theory."
"It's better than your theory."
"But I wrote down my theory in a book before yours. And it was told to me by some homeless guy when I was a kid. He's always right, so I know it's green and white."

This is just beautiful work.

Also considering it's been proven that Jesus was from the middle east, where do the names Mary and Joe come from? If people have obviously changed a key fact about Jesus' parents (namely their heritage/race) what's to stop them from changing anything else they saw fit (i.e. miracles, son of god, etc.)

Disproving evolution != proving creationism

Disproving creationism != proving evolution

Dammit, I want a third option - machine simulation ala Matrix :D

Disagreed, creationism and evolution are mutually exclusive - either life evolves or a deity commands it to be and it is so. If you want to say that a deity and the process of evolution could conceivably coexist, I'd agree, though the arsenal of evidence against existence would grow religion has to admit it lied about that ;)

I find it hard to believe that those are our only two options... although I don't have any suggestions for a real alternative.

I do agree with you that the two theories could co-exist. If God created everything, and we evolve, then didn't God just create an evolving being? The earth changes, why not life?

Not true. The two theories are not mutually exclusive.

Most "scientific/evolution" types that actually study this issue have theorized that there was some sort of "seeding" or other introduction(aliens?) of life to earth. This event could satisfy both theories.

Creationism does not necessarily mean a literal interpretation of the bible either. This is something thrown up by every person claiming to know how humans came to exist on this planet.

The holes in the fossil record indicate that there was some sort of event that made the planet populate almost instantly(in ~1million years or so which is instantly in evolution terms). Whether this was God, aliens, stuff clinging to a meteor or what is what nobody knows for sure.

The creationist theory doesn't necessarily have to be religious. Think of it in terms of a DNA bigbang theory.

Link? I was under the impression most believed fragments of proteins and DNA were formed due to the atmosphere on our planet ~4 billion years ago or so. Experiments have shown this phenomenon to be possible.

Thr ironic part is changes over time is a better way to described evolution. The term evolution was chosen because it still gave the idea that humans are better then monkeys.

Besides....scientists can't get it right on such things as Vitamin E and Eggs, how can they be sure they have Evolution totally right either. Ahh, the Religion of Science.

Electrons and electricity is a THEORY. Atomic structure is a THEORY. We cannot see it, but yet there is so much evidence that supports it that any educated person would generally accept it as a fact.
The Evolution Theory is no different.

lol yea:) admit adultery back then? hahaha:)

all considering, it is amazing how intolerant the followers of a bastard child can be...

Rustynuts was banned for what he posted, but this post is brushed off?

Evolution is just as much of a religion as Christianity is. People get so caught up in what they believe they tend to bend the facts so it fits their beliefs.

There is evidence out there that goes against evolution

There is evidence out there that goes against creation

There's a reason for it, I just haven't figured out what it is yet.

In the meantime, enjoy your futile arguments.

Wow, way to argue against religion :p Don't worry, Reality forgives. Anytime you want to come back to it, you'll find yourself welcomed ;)
