These are things I really don't need, but I might have to buy anyway if they have them when I go in at lunch today.

AMD Duron 1.6Ghz Internet ready PC, 128MB, 40GB, 52x CD-rom, Linux OS - 99.99
512MB memory PC2700 69.99- 50.00MIR = 19.99
Netgear wireless-B router FIR

I was hoping for a good hard drive deal and while 120 for 30AR is good, I need a biggie like 250 or 300 really. I might have to run and go get a paper real quick if no one has scanned this in and posted the ad.

I posted the follwoing elsewhere for Fry's GO customers:

I was one of the first 30 out of a line that stretched around the building at Fry's Grand Opening (GO) in Downers Grove and they still had EVERYTHING later in the day that was on sale for their one-day GO sale. Also, feel yourself lucky, I note that several of the items I bought (and am STILL waiting on 90% of the rebates rebates BUT many at least are already approved) are cheaper in Atlanta. Not by much - $10 here, $2 there, etc. - but it is still worth it if you can afford the rebate waiting game.

Also, AND A STRONG SUGGESTION for those doing the rebates, make and keep copies of everything, make sure you meet and beat the dates (anywhere from a couple of days, to 7-days, to 14-days on most), and KEEP CHECKING on-line, telephone, etc.

I had/have $700 in rabated items, and while I have now received three of them totalling $100, I have found five or six major ones that they made errors on when keying them into their system. They would type in an incorrect Zip code, address, last name, etc., and a couple were rejected by them over this! It look a number of Faxes, telephone calls and emails to get half of them fixed, but I am still waiting on over $400 of them that either have been entered in for processing (or nothing noted), or have not been approved for payment.

READ the rebate slips to ensure you fulfill ALL your obligations (like initials, "yes" and "no" answers, etc.), or they could reject them. If you are like some of us that went to the Downers Grove GO, I suggest you locate and introduce yourself to the CSR at Fry's who will be handling Rebate issues - she/he can be your friend!

From the 20 or so items I purchased that had rebates, only three have posed a real problem for me to check on: FAR Coleman Spotlight ($8); FAR Cathode Lights ($5); and the FAR Triton USB HD case (2-$30 rebates). You have to call or email and so far I have not received a reply from them after eight-days.

Be prepared. Be forewarned. Make copies! And NEVER give up!!!

You all be safe out there, you hear!

Boss and I just got back from Fry's. An employee told him that the sale stuff is good throughout the weekend (Not just one day). So if some of you don't get a chance to make it then don't sweat it. ;)

I was there at 8:30 (they opened at 9). The line was already around the corner of the building. It was like Black Friday(almost!). Picked up the WD hdd for $30 (that's 25 cents per gig!) and a nice Targus laptop backpack for 10 AR.

I asked about the rest of the weekend, and they said that they are having different one-day sale items all weekend. So, be sure to grab the paper on Saturday and Sunday mornings, 'cause it looks like they are doing new sale items each day.

Oh, and SEVENTY check out lanes??? Man, that's sweet.

EDIT: Forgot to mention... The owners were there, too. David (?) Fry was at the door greeting everyone. He's gotta be lovin' life right about now...

I got there about 9:30. I have to say, I was seriously impressed with the selection. I don't think I have ever seen a store with so many different kinds of items. The place truly is huge and has everything. Was very tempted on the MSI K8N Neo2 Plat for $159, as its rather hard to find anywhere. But gonna hold out for nf4 boards. Did pick up one of the progressive scan dvd players for $20 out the door. The portable dvd players and flat panels were going like hot cakes.

Think there'll be any 1200JB's left for me after 5pm? :D

I already have 11 but I need to rebuild my RAID5 array with some identical drives.

They still had plenty of the 120GB drives (maybe 100+?) left when i was there at 1pm. You should be ok to get it later tonight. I might be back later tonight to pick one up as well. The place is a freaking Zoo though just to let ya know. I almost got run over a few times by people with carts that were in a hurry.

random note: some of the ladies working there were very cute ;)

Another random note: the LCD and the 100 dollar pc were sold out by the time I left. I wanted the PC but was too late but my friend was able to get one of the last LCD's. Some of the things are hard to find, so just ask.

Well, I ended up with a deal pretty much equal to Newegg prices. One advantage we may have in Atlanta is we have Monarch Computer is "just down the road" from Fry's. I noticed on the real time pricing last night they had the lowest. I had Fry's PM Monarch on an Athlon 64-2800 at 140......60 bucks off Fry's price. So that might be something for y'all to look into. They had no problem matching the price once they contacted Monarch. I'm just a bit happy about it all. I didn't even get to look around the whole store. Maybe that's for the weekend.

Remember that the 120 hard driver is $30 after rebate. Most rebates are one per house hold.

Crud I almost picked up one of the $99 PC's but decided to think about it. I knew I should have got one.

Yes they have a ton of attractive young ladies that work there.

Also the viewsonic "birds" at the front door were a blast!

If you go go in and straight back. They had a ford F150 that you could enter the give away for free. The other prize was a large screen TV and not sure what the other one was.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring? Anyone that has seen another Fry's open. Did the deals get better through out the weekend? Esp on PC stuff?

My friend and I left work for a few hours to check it out. On my way in the door, I was greeted by Mr. Fry himself (I can't remembe which one). He handed me a store map, yes the store is HUGE, at least twice the size of any Best Buy.

I ended up getting the WD 1200JB drive $30 after rebates. There was still a whole crate of them.
I also picked up the FAR PCI TV tuner card ($30-$30), a 25pack DVD+R for $13, and the $20 DVD player (for my friend cuz he wanted more than 1)

My friend picked up the same FAR tuner card, and $20 DVD player, plus a Sharp 32" TV for $250,
a Sony component surround system for $299 which was a steal; it came with surround reciever, speakers, sub, and 5-disk carousel DVD player. Normally $500.

Some notes:

They had quite a few 6800GTs including the BFG OC model, and they also had some 6800 Ultras. Most everything had plenty in stock. In all, I found that there normal pricing on stuff was not that great. I was really surprised that some of the prices weren't as good as Outpost has. Example: The WD Raptor 74GB was priced at $230AR (online it is $159AR).

The sales were really worth noting though. Also, thier selection was much, MUCH better than BB or CC or C-USA, but I didn't like the way that you have to get a salesman to "quote" you items that are stocked in the back. Memory for example; If I wanted to get the 2x512MB OCZ kit ($150-50MR), I would have to get the salesman to enter it in the computer and give me a quote which I take to checkout where it would be pulled from the back. I guess I'm used to just grabbing a slip from the display. I'm not sure if that is how they keep better track of inventory or if that's how they distribute sales commisions. Maybe a little of both.
Bottom line, I could have spent many more hours there looking. I just hope that it is succesful enough that they decide to add a store in Cobb county! Welcome to Atlanta Fry's.

One thing that I did notice, not sure if anyone else has seen this. There's a coupon on the Kill Bill Vol2 for instant $5 off if you buy both Vol1 and Vol2. I showed the cashier the coupon and she took off $5 from my purchase of both volumes.

Kill Bill Vol1 $19.99
Kill Bill Vol2 $9.99
Total $29.98 - $5 (instant coupon) = $24.98 for both. I think this is pretty good deal.

Also bought about $400 worth of stuff. But after rebates, I only actually paid around $160. Hopefully Fry's going to have some more deals like this from nowon. Going back again tomorrow morning! :)

Frys has been out in naperville in IL and i went there like a month ago and walked in the place as i stepped in my knees slightly buckled b/c this was one BIG mother****** we spent (and im not kidding here) four hours there scouring various deals, man its like a Radioshack, Bestbuy, and Microcenter (but way more selection than micro), all in one.

Most of the real good deals are the walk-in unadvertised stuff. Makes sense You come in and stumble across a great deal you might be stoked so you pick something else up

Don't forget Starbucks/Barnes&Noble in your combination to describe this place. There was a freaking CAFE in the middle of the store. They even had a guy playing piano nearby the "cafe". Man, it's like a geeks dream store come true. I am going to make this my new "hangout" place. Please come and join me in the "cafe".

kinda got there late, the $99 computer and FAR webcam deals were long gone by that time :(

Yes they have a ton of attractive young ladies that work there.
damn, i must have missed that part out... 1 ok looking girl maybe, well actually forget that too :p

ended up getting me the $30 wd hdd, $20 ram and $20 usb flash drive.

huge store, great selection. i was pleasantly surprised they even had EMU-1212M on shleves (tho it was priced at MSRP). the clerks were VERY friendly and much less annoying compared other places..

all in all, i feel sorry for the bestbuy across the street :D

my bud gave me a ride there, but we got locked out of the car while loading up our stuff after we were done shopping. had to wait till another friend came over to pick us up, so i headed over to dvd section and stood in the corner reading Comic Party. some of you might have seen me there :p

One thing I'll say - No family in Gwinnett County is going to be without a 6 qt. crock pot after today. I swear at least 90% of the people in the store had one or two of them in their shopping cart.

The store is great, but get a whole bunch of excited geeks in one confined area and it's total mayhem. Not only was the store a beehive of acitivity, but the parking lot was close to becoming a domolition derby. I saw at least 4 near-collisions.

Get ready on the east coast for some awesome customer service....not! Actually your Csr's will probably be better than we have here in So. Cal. Almost anything is better than So. Cal's. Fry's customer service. Yet again it's the hot deal were after, right? Enjoy your new Fry's!

the young blonde in the back right corner of the store was very nice :)

Hey, you guys should know that a lot of them are just from the other's Fry's stores just to open this store, but I have spoken to some of them, and they have been working non-stop for weeks, and they said they haven't had much chance to enjoy Atlanta. They also dont have any transportation for around the area either, and are a little homesick and lonely. So, you can be a good ambassador :) for the greater Atlanta area, and offer to take them around!

But, back on topic -- yep, I spent a ton of money, buying stuff that is mostly FAR. And, I'm probably going to get up again and do it again! But, I did get everything I wanted. The portable DVD player, the color laser, networked drive, phones, etc. It's great to finally have one here!

Glad you guys finally got a store nearby. Depending on what your looking for; or what you ...er uh... really need, they can actually have some kickass prices. Funny how what they have on sale from week to week seems to be what I need, lol. It was always easy to justify more memory or harddrive (at < fifty cents a GB) Then there's all the geek gadgets that's oh so cool. Now for you guys, every Friday can be "Black Friday"(Day after Thanksgiving) lol.

Dear god what a mad house!! I went at 8pm tonight and it was Jam packed. I asked my checkout guy if it had been busy as this all day and he said it was even busier earlier. Crazy stuff. Picked up one of those Just PC cases and already got a computer in it, they are nice for being FAR :) No more calling my buddy in Cali to pick stuff up for me :D plus now we can all pricematch those punks at CC, OM, OD, and BB :) oh and compussr
