The world furnace is working fine. In fact, it would be nice if someone could turn down the heat. We're just in a cold zone right now.

Looks like it's working fine. Finally got someone with sense working the thermostat, and is keeping the heat down.

Same. I don't know how people who get regular 25C+ or even 30's manage especially those that have to work outside. That's got to be brutal. Just constantly sweating and sticky and feeling gross. The extreme cold were getting now is pretty brutal too if you have to work outside but at least you have some options to dress for it. The biggest issue is the hands. If I had to work outside in this cold I'd probably look into some kind of heated gloves.

Cold is one thing, but here in MN we are expecting several inches of snow this weekend and -25 F next week with daily highs well below 0F. That is pretty brutal. I have a brand new car, but even that is borderline to start in that kind of cold. I can handle down to -10 or -15 F, but this is something else.

Yeah the days are very short here which is one of the few things I hate about living here. Go to work in the dark and get home in the dark. It's like that most of the year except for the summer months. Then it's like 3:30am sunrise and 10pm sunset. It's awesome, but it's only for a few months.

I started my car in -40 without plugging it in. It makes really funny noises and it's probably really hard on the engine, but it starts. The next day at -30 I didn't have as much luck though... guess the battery never got to charge fully. Had to boost it. My block heater cord is screwed up, I need to cut it and put a new end but it's too cold to do that.

I remember the hydrometer showing mine was good to -20 and waking up to -17 and taking the cap off the radiator and seeing a green slurpee. Nothing worse that driving a few miles with no heat and realizing you're frozen solid with freeze plugs ejected! She'll run a bit but when you hear knocking it's time to stop.

Many moons ago I bought an old truck in southern Arizona. I drove it to Colorado to meet up with a friend and froze my engine solid. I grew up in the great white north and it never crossed my mind that the previous owner of the truck wouldn't have used proper anti-freeze.

I had almost straight water in my system once, and didn't get to fixing it before freezing weather came. Took the jeep into work, and blew my hoses apart on the way. Let it rest a bit, drove it another .5 miles to the hardware store. I bought a bunch of pvc pipe fittings and clamps, patched my blown hoses, and made it into work :^D

They call it antifreeze for a reason. Though I heard of people mixing it with water to get more out of it and yeah it will freeze. Or people putting water as a temp test after fixing a leak and they forget to change it back. Oops!

You're supposed to mix it with water. Percentages will vary per climate, but I think you use a water component everywhere.

I've always just put it straight in. Though I guess it technically would have water already as part of the ingredients. I had a car that had a leak so I had to top it up now and then and just bought it and put it straight in. Go through a couple containers a month haha. Probably terrible for the environment to be leaking that all over...
