Day three of being stuck at home. I can't clear the driveway because I can't stand up on it. I hate winter in the north

Yeah I'd love to get a high efficiency wood stove, just don't have any decent place for one. Though I have been considering one of those outdoor wood boilers, but it's not the same, and it's more work since you have to go outside to light it.

I just got one installed. I only stock it twice a day since its just me. Heats the hot water well . It stays lit unless you let your coals totally die. Loving it!

Having a woodburner is nice, even if you only use it a couple times per year for ambiance burning. Makes a good backup in case power goes out. I really like the mix of stuff I have here. I have electric, natural gas, town water, and a wood stove. Not much can happen aside from extreme bad luck that'll knock me completely out of commission. I can heat and cook without gas or electric, and when the electric goes out, I still have water; even hot water. I've never known the gas to quit working, but I suppose it could happen.

I heard rumours we're suppose to get some -70 windchills coming soon but have yet to hear anything too official. I'd be legit curious to see what that is like. The coldest I've ever really seen is like -50. That seems to always be the cut off, like I don't think I've seen even -51.

We hit - 38 with windchills 4 days ago. Today it was 52

Wow that's quite an extreme change. Won't be seeing positives here any time soon. February is basically January 2.0.

Air got up to 46 today, a lot of snow melted. Its still 39 so it wont be freezing soon. thats good news.
