OP is currently hiding under his desk, dodging bullets from a workplace shooter. He doesn't have time to Google!

It's mostly a big deal since it's the first time in 20 years and it's sorta decent.

George Lopez show was awesome.

As for this show, I saw the first two and while it was nostalgic for me growing up in the 90s, the laughs were just meh. Also I can't stop hearing Kim Jun Un

Watched the first two episodes. Unless you're Ornamental and willing to overlook bad acting and terrible script writing, this is one show to avoid.

Badly over-played stereotyping, (tiger-mom, good students, wimp dad) lame jokes, often centered over an Asian kid and rap music...just not that good.

but hey...IF you're Ornamental and think that ANY show that features Asian people is "Must Watch TV," you're set...until it gets cancelled.

Ornamental? Fuck you.

Was George Lopez show full of jokes about mexican ppl? Did they have accents like this? I hope they lose their accents.

So... Blackish with Asian people?

Looks like TV writers are running out of ideas now too.

It's like Modern Family with the gays, Hispanics and Asian, all playing to the stereotype. I'm surprised these shows gain popularity. They highlight what divides us.

That's racist :colbert:

I'll be more impressed when they can do a such sitcom that's actually funny just in and of itself without having to stoop to ethnic or racial humor. Think that's why I watch so much BBC. They can have a show that includes South Asians or blacks and they aren't constantly throwing their ethnicity or race out there as a comedy vehicle. They're just British.

Apparently in K-Town NYC, they had viewing parties for this show.

Who the hell cares enough to go to a viewing party for a goddamn sitcom?

it's a chance to get together and play drinking games?

"soju shot for every racial stereotype GO"

Generally speaking, the network sit-com is dead.

Generally speaking, the network sitcom was stillborn. There have been standouts over the decades from I Love Lucy to Cheers to Seinfeld, etc. But 95% (or more?) have been utter shite since the sitcom was invented.

Other countries are more nationalistic than ours. They are French, British, before anything else.

oh btw, ya'll know the guy who's memoir this sitcom was based on shat on the producers during the press tour? basically shat on them for whiting out the memoir.

"This show isn't about me, nor is it about Asian America," he wrote. "The network won't take that gamble right now. ... The only way they could even mention some of the stories in the book was by building a Trojan horse and feeding the pathogenic stereotypes that still define us to a lot of American cyclope. ... People watching these channels have never seen us, and the network's approach to pacifying them is to say we're all the same."

BTW if you're in New York, and get a chance, check out his restaurant, Bao Haus. Place is great.

I liked the theme of Blackish and we all can relate to it: How to keep our identify yet embrace the world.

Did Blackish survive? I only watched it once on ABC Family, which had it on the same week it premiered.

Don't forget the failed Indian one. Although this is not family based and probably riding off of The Office's success.

I liked that show, but that probably made me a minority.

Maybe ABC should do a show about failed network TV show fans next 🙂

I don't think there is enough of an Indian population in the US to care about that one. Plus it was about the thing that we all hate, the stupid Indian telephone operators when we call .
