ok a few episodes in now. I like it. It's pretty good for what it is.

I feel like this is kind of what Will smith and the fresh prince was before that took off. This guy could be like the next asian will smith if the show can become a hit.

I like it. Not the greatest show but entertaining. Agree the mom is hot. I also liked Outsourced. Also, wasnt there some other latino show on recently? Had that fat latino comedian in it.

Has anyone else noticed that they toned down the accent on the chick who plays the mom? Comparing her accent to the first episode, its pretty much gone by the 3rd episode.

I wonder how that works because they don't film one by one, right? They do a set altogether first. There's no downtime to do a focus group review or something then adjust all within the pilot season.

There is not one show in this thread I have seen. So I do have something in common with those dirty hipsters. Bummer.

The pilot episode is reviewed and adjustments made before filming the rest of a first season. There was a show last year where they changed one of the family kids between episode 1 and 2.

I believe they did this with the show "New Girl". They swapped black guys between the pilot and the second episode. Was kind of strange, honestly.

The same thing happened on Shameless with the chick that played Mandy during the first season.

Fresh Off The Boat reminds me of the Asian Simpsons, especially Marge and Bart. The dad seems like a Homer template with major character tweaks and the younger brothers remind me of Rod and Todd. lol

Although I must say, the mom makes the show for me. I like her unique comedy take. Definitely will continue watching as a mostly non-tv person.

they brought the 1st guy back though. it wasn't that they changed the actor for the same character. they were 2 different characters.

Didn't make it that far into the show, but it was still a change when they were like "here's one black guy!" and then the next episode were all like "we replaced him! lol".

But they were clearly different characters, and they continued discussing the one that left while he was gone as well as refer to that bedroom as his room still.

just got caught up to the latest episode of Fresh off the Boat. I don't notice any change in the wife's voice...

Okay, I finally saw this. Not bad. It'd not set now... looks like the 90s?

Wife's accent comes and goes, only complaint.
