That was interesting listening to them figure out a strategy for that. I had no idea, but that 600 amp gear is main haul stuff and is not scaled like the typical 200 amp hardware.
It is not plug and play at all, so they had to scheme a way to tap it safely. The 200 amp is just plug and play by comparison.

The main trunk 7200 here.
They serviced my my 25 KVA transformer with 1/0 coax.

Yes it worked out really good and then they set it up for that new development so they don't have to screw with that again. They can just reach in there and hook it on with remotes.

The box in the foreground is there to hold the locate wire only. That is on our lot and the white stake to the left is the property corner. I will end up mowing the right of way, the city will never come back here.


Carport is prepped and hammered, cut to grade. I have it formed and rebar in there, will take another pic.

I prepped the slab for the carport.
I had collaborated with the engineer on the design, and suggested we tie the slab and far footing to the top of the basement wall as a tie-back of sorts.
I used form savers at the basement wall to avoid those nasty horizontal bars sticking out. Spendy but worth it for me.


I picked up the last big load of framing today, for the carport/sundeck. I had brought the mini home to set the 500 pound beam in the portal wall. It had just enough reach to do it without building up a spot with dirt.
It is a 16' open space flanked by the 4' portal wall sections. I will finish the glulam beam where it shows with stain. Can't have too much wood IMO.

we rolled the starter strip with plastic to protect the stucco.


Siding breaks at that trim and is natural vertical cedar under and above the balcony.
I put 12 + tons of rock in that hole behind the retaining wall today, along with pipe, fabric and plastic. The infrastructure for the water feature is in place, but no hurry on building that.

I'd love to get final by the end of this year so we can catch the fleeting energy tax credit.
I can get that with the exterior and interior painted, the flatwork and stormwater items done outside, and inside:
1)Any kitchen sink in a chunk of counter.
2)a kitchen stove
3) (1) finished bathroom.

I'd need to have all safety rails up, but no flooring or cabinets or interior doors or trim, save that 1 bathroom.
Then I could take my time building my real kitchen cabs and bathroom cabs etc. Flooring as much as my back will tolerate at a time.
I'll know if that is possible by the end of October.

The carport will get framed, decked and ready for the roof membrane this week. I have the edge trim metal made and on site.

It is 24 ga PVDF painted steel with a 1/2" drip hem.
the vinyl roof membrane comes with an 1 3/4" molding that goes over the top edge of that. No painting any of these facia or barge boards it is all 24 ga steel.
Then I will get my neighbor welder started on fabbing stainless rail posts for cable safety rails. They face mount on that metal, no roof penetrations. He is down for that. We will set up jigs to make it quick and easy.
