FRENCH weekly magazine, Paris Match, is to publish exclusive pictures of what it says are Iraqi rebels launching a missile attack on a German DHL cargo plane over Baghdad that led to a shutdown of commercial air traffic to the Iraqi capital.

He said Sessini and a special correspondent sent to Iraq, Claudine Verniez-Palliez, had been with the group for several days beforehand and were unaware they were about to witness the attack.

"They had been asked to come see caches of arms very close to Baghdad and didn't discover the real reason for the operation until the last minute," Genestar said.

To see the photos online (if they haven't shown up on AP wires yet),
go to www.parismatch.com, is all Flash :disgust: and your browser must allow an immediate popup to get in. :disgust:
then click on "Actualities"

No self-respecting American photographer would have taken that film.

this is not about courage

the Iraqi fighters are not going to confront the US military head on
they pick the battles and fight on their terms

He, he, I guess I disguised my sarcasm too effectively. :)

Media people are all news whores.

Oh, and I'm of French extraction, so of course I'm simply horrified that the French genome should be an object of besmirchment (not a word).

Firing a AA missle at a commercial aircraft is brave?

Nope, but I was talking about them in general. I dont admire braveness like you americans do, usually it goes to far and becomes stupidness.

I just wonder if they would have been so eager to show this act if it had been a French plane hit.

Anyone who doesn't call them Cowards, I suspect. Are they cowards? No. Cutting off Supplies to one's enemy, even if civilians are doing the supply, is a strategic decision that even the US would take. So if they are cowards, so is.....

Sandorski:

You mean like the VietCong were cowards? Or, maybe you mean like those cowardly Nazis?

Are you confusing some people's reluctance to call the terrorists cowards with support for their position?

I doubt many folks here feel kindly towards the terrorists. But that's a far cry from supporting this war or even calling the extremists cowards.

And of course blowing up embassies, and of course killing iraqi police officers and civilians are even more acts of bravery. Nice to know where your standards lie.

Not to get into a full blown argument but...

When people accuse those who fired on the plane cowards, are they labeling just those that did the act cowards or the whole resistance? And those that blew up the embassy, just those particular men, or the resistance as a whole? The reason I ask is because we shouldn't forget that there were times during Vietnam (as an example) that civilians (men, women, seniors, children) were purposely killed. Now, would just those men who committed those acts be considered cowards...or the whole armed forces? See where I'm going with this?
