The Mystery of the missing USB Drive.

Thank you for your interest in the Mystery Solved Windows® licensing promotion. We've received your request for more information to help clarify Microsoft® Windows Desktop Licensing pre-loaded on the USB drive. Unfortunately, this Mystery Solved promotion was available in the U.S. only and while supplies last. Supply is depleted at this time, so we encourage you to please utilize the online alternative today.

Simply download* the Windows Desktop Licensing reference files directly at:

www.microsoft.com/mysterysolved/corp

ugh..what he said.... 🙁

oh well better luck next time

Got the e-mail also ... I've tried many "while supply lasts" things and had yet to see which company will be the first to take this cheap way out of not delivering by declaring that supply ran out. It turned to be the reachest of them all, Microsoft. ... how I am not surprised :disgust:

Mods, can I use a curse word (and not be banned)? Please!

not me all I gots was the stinking "supply ran out" email. Bummer. But, on the bright side, the mystery of the missing USB drive HAS been solved. 😉

There never was a USB, the fact is M$ wanted to get lots of volunteered contact info and the mystery was when they were gonna tell us they didn't actually have the USB drives.

Don't worry Micro$oft you may screw me and not give a reach around but I do. (Disclaimer: This doesn't mean anything it is a empty comment, so leave me alone M$.)

Just wait, relax.

it'll come eventually.

You can't expect the factory to expedite production,

you can't expect higher-cost expedited shipment from the foreign to USA,

you can't expect higher cost expedited handling by the distribution center in USA in shipping to each of us personally.

Bye & bye it will come.

EDIT: I was, for the very first time in 2006, WRONG!!!

It's a free giveaway. Do you expect them to just continue to pour extra money into the program because it got a higher than expected response (because so many people found out about it on free deal sites and were able to skip like to the final step)?

I can't believe people have gotten so bent out of shape about this. I didn't get mine either (as is the case with most internet giveaway deals, in my experience). Get over it!

chill out

i am curious as to whether *anyone at all* received one of these "free" flashdrives from Microsoft.

Time for the class action lawsuit! Who's with me??? 😉

Lets get over it people. It clearly stated while supplies last. Think about the AT effect, not too mention all the other deal site out there. It isn't like anyone here really gave a crap about the content on the usb drive (the real reason that M$ was giving these away in the first place) we just wanted a free drive. Sure I wish I would have got one, but I didn't (Did anyone?) Oh well.

Now officially DEAD!

Just got this Email.

To help simplify Windows Desktop Licensing, keep these points in mind:

There are two legal ways to acquire a full Windows Desktop license: through your hardware vendor (OEM/System Builder) or Full Packaged Product.
Volume licensing covers Windows Desktop operating system upgrades only.
OEM operating system licenses live and die with each PC?they are not transferable.

Again, thank you for your interest in Mystery Solved and for helping us spread the word about proper Windows licensing.

Sincerely,
Microsoft Corporation

This thread won't die so fast, more fools will continue to post the e-mail over and over as they are too lazy to read what has past since they last checked in.

I got the "ran out" letter, but my boss claims he got his but can't remove any files from it. Did anyone else get one? Are they file protected or something?
