Can add UFO-Alien Invasion.

Link.

Free turn based game, similar to the old XCOM games.

UFO: Alien Invasion'. Endless hours of gameplay -- absolutely free.

The game takes a lot of inspiration from the X-COM series by Mythos and Microprose. However, it's neither a sequel nor a remake of any X-COM or other commercial title. What we as a team wanted to make is a brand new experience that tries to surpass the quality of games from 1992, rather than simply recreate them with flashier graphics.

We also believe that open-source projects don't need to be disorganised or badly-managed. We work together in a friendly and professional way, with a clear vision for a game that we know is worth playing.

9 dragons seems okay, but I don't like the point + click movement. The idea of a martial arts mmo is very appealing. I think it would need some element of actual skill/timing to make it more believable.

I can't believe THIS online golf game hasn't been mentioned in this tread yet. Best free golf game you can play with your buddies online hands down. It's called "Albatross18" aka "Pangya" aka "Superswing Golf" on the Nintendo Wii. The content changes so it keeps the game fresh. You earn "pang" points to buy custom items for your character to beef up your skills.

EDIT: If someone wants to start up an Anandtech guild in this game, I would happily join... haha

Freespace Open is amazing, maybe I just don't know what good really is, but I'm impressed. It runs maxed with AA and AF on my GMA 950, only stutters in really big battles with several captial ships and all kinds of stuff exploding, and yet somehow it looks very good overall. Of course, it's a good game too, but I'm really impressed with how its open source community has kept it updated.

Also, why isn't this a sticky anymore? The thread still has the icon like it's stickied, but this was on page 2 when I found it

Probably only stickied for a certain amount of time. Just need to bump it up.

I've been playing Dungeon Runners after seeing it mentioned here. The free version has some limitations but it's kept me busy for a while now.

One thing I can't quite figure out is why most of the equipment sold in towns is so expensive and for very high level characters. It should scale the items to your character so you can actually purchase something instead of just having to wait and find the items.
