No wonder our country has taken a conservative twist. Lack of substance for the liberals I guess.

Then why don't you come try to kill me yourself. Oh that's right, you probably don't own guns because they're oh-so-evil.

Why yes...compassionate conservatives. Spend hundreds of billions on a lie of a war and want to cut "free lunches" from poor children. Nice!

There we go again. No substance OR understanding of government. Why in the world are you comparing state and local budgets with federal budgets? They are meant for COMPLETELY different things.

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) is a federally assisted meal program operating in public and nonprofit private schools and residential child care institutions. It provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to children each school day. The program was established under the National School Lunch Act, signed by President Harry Truman in 1946.

eh?

Since you seem to want to pick and choose what to fund with tax money, why shouldn't I?

I'm not even the biggest fan of Bush. He's not making enough cuts on federal spending on things other than the military (the only thing the federal government is supposed to spend money on). Plus he's not taking a stand on illegal immigrants when it's been proven that most Americans would like to see that happen.

School lunches funded by federal government? There's another reason to get rid of it. Federal government spending money where it has no business.

Bush and the Republicans tossed the "spending bill veto pen" when they took office and control of most of DC.

People like you would rather cut food from someone because it has "social program" in its title but never complain about high government spending on items such as the Iraq war, nobid contracts to the "chosen" few in power, wild Pentagon spending (reported on CNN last week : $27 for an $0.89 ice tray, $75 for a $25 coffee maker, etc). Kill Social Security, kill Medicaid, Kill school loan program, kill free lunch and yet applaud Bush because he shoved the Medicare prescription drug pork down the Democrat's throats. Nice indeed!

I would never kill anyone unless my life was in danger, possibly unlike you.
I would never physically assault someone unless I was protecting myself, probably unlike you.
I would never ask anyone to die for anything I myself am not willing to die for, definitely unlike you (why aren't you in Iraq fighting for what you believe in?).

I admit the first two are speculation but your severe lack of empathy for your fellow man leads me to believe you are slightly sociopathic in nature. :)

Perhaps because some of us are able to see, understand and admit the true nature of the 'system' and some of us believe what our government tells us despite the fact they've admitted to deception countless times in history.

You have respect for mankind but would take the food out of mouths of children? ROFL. Ahaha.

I used to be just like you... so ****** clueless, arrogant and callous... then I realised it was because I actually hated myself and was projecting that onto the rest of humanity.
You can search my posts on this forum post-9/11 - through the first half of the Iraqi war... I was as right wing as they come. Thank god I've been able to let go of all that hate and disdain.

Promising everything to everyone or pretending to be a nation dedicated to truth, justice and the rule of law.

Whats the difference? A lie is a lie.

That's pretty funny coming from an administration that doesn't know how to stop spending!

The difference is that conservativism is built from good-natured people on up.

Socialism is built from the government.

The difference is that people are the essence, so what happens when people quit relying on eachother and solely on the government? The government is no more corrupt than crooked corporations, but the difference is that you don't have to support corporations.

Well, I don't agree with the military spending on Iraq and, since I don't get a choice, we're even...you don't want free lunch for poor children and I don't want money spent on a lie....
