No, it's not a joke. Check
the web page, on the left hand side you'll see a picture of the 32mb pen drive right under "Attend a technical event Apr 1 - Jun 30."
You'll probably have a hard time passing your 9 year old brother off as an employee at the hands-on seminars though.
LOL. For someone who claims to have "looked over the list" you didn't notice that not a single Launch Event was listed in the events list? Yet you still claimed that you get a free USB drive. If you are not claiming that a pen drive is available for this event, which you acknowledge later it is not, then why did you say that? You are intentionally misleading people to believe that they are going to get a free pen drive at
this event. Let me break this down for you:
"Guys, if you are interested, there are also plenty of informative Microsoft Technical events planned in your area, which you can sign up for via this
link. As a bonus for attending any of these events you will receive a 32MB USB Drive! Some of these events are FREE and others are not. Note that the Windows Server 2003 Launch Event is
not a technical event, and therefore the free USB drive does not apply to it."
That took zero thought to come up with that, and is far more informative than your attempt at "information."
Let me break something else down for you:
THIS IS A
HOT DEALS FORUM
As such, everyone who browses the hot deals forum is looking for free/cheap stuff, and will do darn near anything to get that stuff. When you post a response in a particular thread causing people to believe that they will get something
broad appeal and usefulness (and by that I mean something useful to everyone, not just IT professionals/developers, like the free server and dev software) for free that they will in fact NOT GET, then you are not helping anyone. You are hurting the chances for people that the launch event is actually targeted at. All you get is a bunch of people registering for an event with no real interest other than getting a free toy. Then people who saw this thread and would actually need or use a free copy of Windows Server 2003 potentially miss out because events get full from people signing up their "mom, dad and 9-year old brother." Who knows how many people like that registered for the already-full NYC event?
