Comcast is currently processing their speed upgrade in PA and DE. Just unplug the modem for 5 secs and when it reboots you will have it.

speeds...

3mbps goes to 4mbps down and 384kbps up

and

4mbps goes to 6mbps down and 768kbps up

Why is this the first I've heard of this? I never got an email, or notice with my bill from Comcast about this. I'm surpised they're upgrading again after last years upgrade to 3Mbs.

A couple dumb questions: Looking at the speedshere, if the DL cap is 4400, why do they only advertise the rate at 4000? And if those are supposed to be the rates, what the heck kind of overhead brings it down to 518KB/s (as per the thread)?

Interesting - my Internet was down last night (even though all lights were A-OK and the DHCP was all fine), and I had to reboot the modem to get it working again. Maybe they've already upgraded me (Maryland)? Will check tonight.

I'm in Knoxville and I've had increased speed for at least a few days now. Downloading at a constant 480-500K is pretty cool. I'll take a 1/3 increase.

I will say performance here has been crappy since it happened. Each night I have to reboot the modem. It goes out sparadicly. Maybe I need a new modem from those guys or a tech out here. However, everything was working until they increased the speed. It was about 6 months ago that I last had to restart the modem...so I don't think it's a problem on my end. Still, it's sparadic and seems to only be happening in the evenings.

yeah, i only just got the 3mbps upgrade a couple of months ago in bay area, i expect it'll be 2006 before 4mbps hits me.

hey wassup new guy here and yea CA anyone kno if its upgraded yet? mainly the Sacramento area? im at school cant test yet...

So I take it this is something they do it on their end without the subscriber having to do anything about it right? Hope this happens in GA soon, we could always use more upload bandwidth with me and my roomies trying to split it up between MMORPG and p2p 🙁
