In terms of the dmcowen674 point about closing GITMO, Obama is now between a rock and a hard place.
Thanks to GWB&co total incompetence, he had seven years to separate the guilty from the innocent, and frittered all that time away. And now any evidence found by torture is held inadmissible by the courts, Obama has no other place to put these people, and some should not be released and others should.
And now Obama is expected to have this problem solved in no time, after GWB just kept kicking the can down the road for seven long years while any real evidence is now much harder to find.
In related news, Rush Limbaugh is on a drastic diet, and may have lost some 90 pounds. Congratulations Rush.
Calling for a new sequel book, Rush Limbaugh is no longer a big fat idiot and is now a medium sized skinny idiot. Change we can believe in.

Obama can't willy nilly release all prisoner in GITMO, but at least he is moving to see that the guilty are separated from the innocent, something of a process GWB&co never even started in seven years. And in terms of the funding that has to be approved by congress for alternative prison space for the guilty, that too has to be accomplished before GITMO can be closed. Nor is Obama erecting the barriers against courts intervening to protect detainee rights like GWB&co, and although the process is not proceeding as fast as I would like it, at least Obama is progressing towards ending a blot on the US human rights record.
And no longer is the USA, under Obama practicing Torture, kidnapping under the guise of rendition, or any of the numerous other totally morally bankrupt practices of GWB&co.
Maybe other than bitch up about Obama's present stance of "The Obama administration said Tuesday it could continue to imprison non-U.S. citizens indefinitely even if they have been acquitted of terrorism charges by a U.S. military commission.
Jeh Johnson, the Defense Department's chief lawyer, told the Senate Armed Services Committee that releasing a detainee who has been tried and found not guilty was a policy decision that officials would make based on their estimate of whether the prisoner posed a future threat."
Maybe alchemise could tells us what he advocates at present until those determinations can be more accurately made.
