MSNBC is highly biased and would beat on Bush unrelentingly. Fox News is highly biased and beats on Obama unrelentingly. The fact that you see a significant difference is probably more of an indication of your personal bias than anything...no?

I grant the bias in the reported stories on both sides but everyone should demand, no outright lies.

Besides calling Obama a defacto terrorist crossed a line none of the other networks have broached.

So...it appears that the crux of your rebuttal is based on your objection to Fox News Network using the word "news" in it's corporate name. And you say my rebuttal was simply stupid...lol...that's rich.

Your rebuttal was stupid because you were responding to someone whose entire contention was that "Fox News" needs to take the word "News" out of its name. His argument was ridiculous, but your rebuttal focused on a network that doesn't have "News" in its title, so his argument wouldn't apply to it at all, which makes your rebuttal stupid in that it completely missed his point, however ridiculous his point may have been. Had you said "CNN," you would have been right on the money, since it stands for "Cable News Network."

But this argument is getting ridiculous since neither of us agree with the contention that Fox News needs to change its name to begin with.

Recent polls have the majority of the country thinking were headed in the wrong direction. Lots of people would like the good old days of 2007, back when they had a job and didn't have pay cuts/benefits cuts because of Obama's anti-capitalism policies.

Funny thing is that you don't mention the "good old days of 2008". Why not mention Bush's last year in office? Perhaps if you were looking then you'd have to realize that the housing bubble had popped and that Bush began many of the anti-capitalist policies that President Obama continued and expanded upon.

I actually recall he completely hated doing that (TARP) and was very much against it in principle but every expert around him was saying he had to.

Turn off the car while the garage door is closed. I never said your rebuttal was stupid. Its a valid point a network calling themselves a "News" channel while continuing to make intentional "mistakes". Take a hint from Vince McMahon if the fix is in, change your name to entertainment. Fox "News" has a high viewership for the same reason the WWE does well.

That's not a good argument. The WWF changed its name to WWE because the World Wildlife Fund claimed breach of a contract established between the two organizations in 1994 that specifically prohibited the World Wrestling Federation from using the acronym outside the United States. British courts upheld that claim, and the WWF was forced to change their name or risk fines for their use of the "wwf.com" web address.

No one can make any such claim about Fox News. Sure, their highest rated programming is not their news shows but their incendiary commentators, but every news channel has those. Should we just outlaw "news" in the title of cable networks?

My take on the people that defend Fox is that they are: stupid, willfully ignorant, right wing extremists, or some combination of those.

People calling it "stock footage" obviously have no idea what the term actually means, and you sound like fools for using the term in this context.

I despise people who have no regard for the truth. Defending lies strips you of honor, integrity, and trust. It marks you as being of little value as a person.

Results of the NBC/Wall St. Journal poll on right/wrong direction of the country a little ways down: http://www.pollingreport.com/right.htm (it's the first one I saw that goes back to 2007)

Percentage of people who thought the US was going in the right direction for all of 2007:
Average: 20.25%

Current percentage of people who think the US is going in the right direction: 36%.

Give it a couple months.

HomerJS immediately responded to my post and understood my point...which btw has nothing to do with the word "news" in a corporate name. It appears that my point seems to have eluded you for some reason. But if its any consolation...I agree with you...the arguments as you perceived them and depicted them above are ridiculous.

Then why is it the most watched news network? Not just high viewership, it's the most watched news network there is and kills all the others.

Its what the idiots watch when American Idol isn't on????

Seriously? High ratings mean anything? You're more retarded than I originally estimated.

Like this guy?

"Will eliminate all income taxation of seniors making less than $50,000 per year. This will eliminate taxes for 7 million seniors -- saving them an average of $1,400 a year-- and will also mean that 27 million seniors will not need to file an income tax return at all."

"I have done more to take on lobbyists than any other candidate in this race. I don't take a dime of their money, and when I am president, they won't find a job in my White House."

"[W]e need earmark reform. And when I'm president, I will go line by line to make sure that we are not spending money unwisely." "Transparency and Integrity in Earmarks Act, will shed light on all earmarks by disclosing the name of the legislator who asked for each earmark, along with a written justification, 72 hours before they can be approved by the full Senate."

"When there is a bill that ends up on my desk as the president, you the public will have five days to look online and find out what's in it before I sign it." "will not sign any non-emergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House website for five days."

"I will eliminate capital gains taxes for the small businesses and the start-ups that will create the high-wage, high-tech jobs of tomorrow."

"If a company that currently has 10 U.S. employees increases its domestic full time employment to 20 employees, this company would get a $30,000 tax credit – enough to offset the entire added payroll tax costs to the company for the first $50,000 of income for the new employees." "The tax credit will benefit all companies creating net new jobs, even those struggling to make a profit."

"Since so many Americans will be struggling to pay the bills over the next year, I propose that we allow every family to withdraw up to 15% from their IRA or 401(k) – up to a maximum of $10,000 – without any fine or penalty throughout 2009." "This will help families get through this crisis without being forced to make painful choices like selling their homes or not sending their kids to college."

"I have done more to take on lobbyists than any other candidate in this race. I don't take a dime of their money, and when I am president, they won't find a job in my White House."

"No political appointees in an Obama-Biden administration will be permitted to work on regulations or contracts directly and substantially related to their prior employer for two years. And no political appointee will be able to lobby the executive branch after leaving government service during the remainder of the administration."

"The first thing I'd do as president is, is sign the Freedom of Choice Act. That's the first thing that I'd do."

"My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government. We will work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration. Openness will strengthen our democracy and promote efficiency and effectiveness in Government."

"Two years ago, I criticized the Secretary of State for the firing of U.S. Ambassador to Armenia, John Evans, after he properly used the term 'genocide' to describe Turkey's slaughter of thousands of Armenians starting in 1915. … as President I will recognize the Armenian Genocide."

"During 2009 and 2010, existing businesses will receive a $3,000 refundable tax credit for each additional full-time employee hired."

Why would the status of Fox News in relation to it being news or not be affected to how many eyeballs are looking at it?

Not. They're facts to the young stupid people because they agree with his lies and mistruths in their blissfully dumb, severely mentally diseased, entitlement and white guilt mentality liberal mind.

A new study by the Pew Research Study shows that viewers of the Daily Show and the Colbert Report have the highest knowledge of national and international affairs, while Fox News viewers rank nearly dead last:

Bias and lies are everywhere. It all boils down to which ones you chose to believe and those that you chose to ignore.

I think some of us are getting commentators confused with reporters. Reporters report the news, commentators comment on it. Commentators usually have their interpretation of the news which may or may not coincide with everyone elses views. Hannity and Lou Dobbs are commentators not reporters. Their take on the news should be taken with a grain of salt and used for entertainment purposes only.

Yeah and idiot young people get their "news" from a comedian. That's what's most sad.

Ah, the hick staters. They are funny, aren't they?

You asked why there are so many viewers of fox news and I answered. You didn't like the answer so you just tried to divert attention to something else.

Are you claiming that MSNBC has been caught in as many outright lies and fabrications?

Not liking someone is one thing. Making up shit to support yourself is another.

Just more of the "they are both bad, therefore they are equal" argument. Except, it is not true.

You mean like Dan Rather using falsified National Guard records to vilify Bush?

Never said that...just pointing out that lies and bias pervades our media. I have no intention of getting into a pissing contest on which one is worse...I'll leave that to the hacks who are more interested in attacking their adversaries than changing their shit laden underwear.

sheppard smith is a reporter and his show REPORTS the news. He is the only reporter i trust to just tell me who, what, where, when without any political spin.

I very rarely watch fox news... only if I need some background noise and cnn/msnbc are running commercials, specials, or human interest stories.
cspan or a weather channel would accomplish the same thing. I think people forget about cspan and that it is the least biased of all. It might not satiate one's need for a source of outrage, though.

You are creating a false equivalency right after you admit that the number of screwups isn't even close to the same. Did rather admit the mistake? Fox never does.

Dude, Rather still doesn't admit those documents weren't authentic; the closest he's ever come is to say they were "fake but accurate". CBS had a whole series of Bush-bashing stories lined up for the last few weeks before the election; they had to cancel them because they took so much heat over those obviously fake documents. I don't watch Hannity since Colmes left, it's far too biased, but Hannity is an opinion and analysis show, not a news show. This is like saying "See, Keith Olberman says this Republican is the worse person in the world, but he''s clearly not." They all have their biases and their dirty tricks; this behavior doesn't surprise me, but it doesn't bother me either. Frankly I'd prefer that to what the networks (including Fox News) did in Bay Saint Louis after Katrina, setting up cameras to show the devastation and talk about how no one was getting any help when the host is looking at a Red Cross aid station behind the cameraman.

Doc Savage, I'm certainly no fan of Walks-On-Water, but to be fair I don't think Obama is any worse to lie than any other president or candidate since Reagan. That includes most politicians, for that matter. Only conservatives in really safe conservative districts, or liberals in moonbat enclaves, dare say what they really intend to do. Getting elected is ALWAYS the most important thing. Who knows, The Messiah might actually have some vague idea of doing some of those things some day. Hope. Change. Brains . . .

I admitted nothing of the kind. BTW...didn't Hannity admit the mistake and apologize?
