That happens here occasionally, but not as often as other forums because I think we have a slightly above average group here in terms of intelligence and education (that's not to say we don't have a few "outliers"). If you can watch a news story and independently come to the same conclusion the story came to, that's fine. But many people don't put the effort into thinking for themselves, or don't know enough about politics to really understand what's going on.

so that NEVER EVER happens with the segment of the population doing the accusing? they all independently come to the same conclusion as the news story? they're not victims of social indoctrination the way the other segment of the population is?

Everyone has a bias. Some people get all of their news from sources that have the same bias and don't question it. That is bad. Some people get their news from sources with different biases, but blindly reject anything the other side says. That is bad. Some people get their news from a variety of sources, filter out the editorializing as well as they can, and try to come to an independent conclusion. That is good. It is not always easy to ignore your own bias, nobody is perfect.

And when I say bias, that's not necessarily a bad thing. If your "bias" is based on principles and you apply those principles to come to a conclusion, that is good. If your bias is based on blind allegiance to a political party, that's bad. Even Michael Savage is not so blindly loyal to the republican party that he will not criticize them.
