Yes, I literally lost 14 lbs. And worse I regained a lb a day when I went back to soda.

Original Post at the beginning of the month.

It was closer to six weeks, however the majority of my weight loss was initial.

Let's not even get into THAT debate right now, it's been beaten to death.

Nobody is saying its good for you, but there are worst things that you can be drinking.

I always try to quit soda, but man... it's too damn hard. I'm drinking a coke as I type this.

Are you mad cause the emoticon isn't clickable?;)

Anyway I just noticed something odd about my beloved diet drink. I put a Splenda Coke and a Dr. Pepper in the freezer to cool them down quick. I forgot about them until this thread and went to get them out.

The Dr. Pepper is frozen solid but the Splenda Coke doesn't even have ice crystals yet.

I limit myself to 1 dr. pepper a day, seems like a reasonable regimen.

You cannot track weight on a day-to-day basis in terms of a single pound. 1 pound is equivalent to 16oz of water weight, which you could put on or take off based upon when you consumed your last drink, your last meal, when you last urinated, or when you had your last bowel movement. You should try to track your weight within a 3 to 5 pound range. Weigh yourself each day, but don't assume you are gaining/losing based on a single pound fluctuation.

If only losing weight were that easy for me.

I "quit" soda for the most part a few years ago. I have a few every now and then, but mostly I drink water. I'm still sitting at that ugly 195 ~ 205 limbo area.

I'm sure it's mostly water that you lost. Chances are you didn't start drinking as much water as was in the soft drinks, which would explain why you went back up in weight so quickly.

maybe drink beer instead, it's better for ya overall than pop, but to gain weight the best thing is beer and pizza

i gave it up a couple years back for new years. ive gone almost 2 and a half years without a straight soda (probably about once every other month i have a rum and coke). didnt do it for health reasons or anything like that, i just noticed i was just about putting down just about a six-pack a day and figured i would try giving up something like that. to be honest, dont really crave soda anymore and ive gotten into the habit of ordering water a lot more now.
