So, anyone else got it yet?

So far, ive selected Europe as my home base, chose the TT, and completed the first round of events.

My take so far is that it is promising, and hasnt strayed to much from the original. Im impressed.

Anyone have any details on how you can use your PSP as a rearview mirror?

its not being released in the UK until June 8, which is annoying...

still playing the demo. adjusting to the steering wheel instead of the controller. i clamped my wheel to an end table and it feels much better now, than in my lap.

have any of you guys bought the limited edition version of forza2? is it worth the extra money??

thanks

Gah, I wish I had my wheel right now. It will probably show up sometime next week. Im kinda holding back on this game ive been waiting for forever, just for some damn package:(

I thought I heard somewhere the the limited edition wasnt available in the U.S.

Oh, BTW, have you played the first Forza with the wheel? And have you tried using it on your PC?

hey smartazz, i dunno, gotta wait until june 8 to find out...but i would have thought you could. i havent played online Xbox Live for a while. i know they've changed the layout abit. i hope i can still play against people around the world.

i remember playing ferrari 355 online on the dreamcast...wow the japanese were so fast

hi cabages, heh, i'd rather have the game and wait for the wheel instead of having the wheel waiting for the game

it feels so sweet when you nail a corner with wheel+pedals. it plays so differently compared to a controller

getting bumped, hitting rumble strips and exiting a turn too fast sees me off the track. its sooo hard but i love it! :D

im sure the limited edition is gonna be available in the US. its made in america, isnt it? i think you get a book and some bonus cars, not 100%...

never had the original xbox, so cant comment on forza1, but what ive seen so far its easily the best racing game/simulator ive ever played

ive not tried it on my pc yet, but i think its compatible...i'll let you know...

Yeah, the last time I used Xbox Live, is when Halo 2 just came out and I played a bunch of British people.

Not when I tried the wheel with the demo, the settings were horrible. It was practically impossible to control the car and it makes me laugh when I read some article about professional drivers (using the racing wheel) talking about how realistic it is. Don't know how realistic it can be when the wheel can't even make a full revolution.

Aikouka

whats the full game like compared to the demo? is the wheel alot easier to use??

do the disc brakes glow on the less powerful cars still???

cheers

btw i've also read the reviews from professional racers. at the end of the day, if they say forza's realistic, who are we to question them... i mean if motor racing was so easy, we'd all be doing it. but i know what you mean the game is so unforgiving...

there were ways to make it easier on less advanced drivers in Forza 1, did they take those out?

I think the auction house is possibly the coolest thing ever... I know its nothing new to gaming, but MS is doing a great job of bringing the console community together: Auction House, Live Tournaments, etc.

I thought that I heard the smaller, rear view mirror screen in THIS video was a PSP, or that you could use a PSP like that. I havent heard much more about it, so I asked.

I just got my wheel in. Its a much harder challenge with this thing, but I think it will be worth it. The RWD cars are especially tough. I also turned down the force feedback and am in automatic.

PGR3 with the wheel is insanely tough. I went and test drove the f50gt, and I just spun out all over the place.

That is a small LCD screen. Not a PSP.

Additionally, that was a special setup by the Forza devs with something like 4 360s running Forza 2 at the same time. You won't find that available to joe consumer.

I've been playing it since Wednesday afternoon and I have to say that the full version is much better than the demo. I guess driving the same track over and over again got to be a little boring. It's a great game, very Gran Turismo-esk but much much better (I never played Forza 1). As far as the online play, I haven't tried it yet. I really hope there's not droves of idiots on multiplayer because I would enjoy a good clean race occasionally.

the disc brake thing annoyed me too.

steel brakes fade as they get hotter, ie reduced friction so they would never get that hot that fast and if they did well...you'd need new brakes after one corner.

even carbon ceramics wont get that hot that quickly unless you do some simply heroic braking from high speed at the last minute.

another thing i was annoyed, at and its the same car that almost every car game (since the cars existance) has gotten wrong in some way. the Mclaren SLR

in GT4 they got the air brake animation....but the magnificent sound of a super charged V8 was no where to be heard

in TDU the SLR looks slightly out of proportion, the air brake doesnt work, it sounds like the V12 SL65 and to top it off...they used a turbo charger sound effect instead of doing it properly and recording the noise a super charger makes

PGR3 - they got the sound almost right...but no airbrake

NFS:MW - i didnt actually bother with the SLR in the game, but from driving the others i would say the engine sounds were close to spot on, cant comment on the air brake though

now forza - asupposedly next gen title, they have done well with the engine note, especially in the replays (though in the demo i kept getting this wierd thing where the car infronts engine would cut in and out depending on where i was behind it...the sound wasnt being faded in/out...it was just being swtiched on/off) but alas.... no air brake!!!

for a game that boasts so much attention to detail, especially in tuning, this is abit unforgivable.

I haven't bought the full game yet, but since I'll probably be going to the movies tonight, I may hit up EB Games afterward (since it's on the way) and pick this up. We'll see if the wheel controls are any better ;).

Also, I do consider myself quite good at driving and I find the wheel tough to use. It may be a bit of the difference that the wheel cannot make a full revolution, unlike real steering wheels. Realism--;

EDIT: I also wish the wheel had a "real" shifter or at least an option to use a separate one. The reason why I hate using manuals in racing games is I can't stand shifting via a button. I think the reason why you don't see that is that some cars have 5 gears and some have 6, but I mean, all you'd have to do is just ignore the command to shift into 6th as all you do is put 6th gear above reverse .

would you really need full revolution in a racing wheel? you're not gonna do a 3 point turn in a race :p

Aikouka have a good evening. go get forza, you know you want it really, and get back to us 8)

ps, i tried the colin mcrae dirt demo, and have to say its even harder to control the car with the wheel. when i mean hard i mean virtually impossible. anyone else found this?

hej, i quite like the paddle shift thingy. i think they should implement that system on every car, in the real world...taking one hand off the steering wheel to change gear with a stick isnt 100% safe. yes? no? its also alot easier.

The wheel definitely isnt easier to use, but it is worth it.

It makes you feel more into the games, and you pay more attention. I also like using it in manual and using the gears to slow down instead of the brakes. It seems you cant turn when your braking, but if you shift it down a gear (or two), it slows you down and you can turn at the same time.

I love it. I am at the lower end of cars though, and I can understand where it would get frustrating. I tried playing one of the better cars in PGR3, and its pretty touchy. The F50gt was nearly impossible to control around a turn.

Ive only had it for a day though, so Aikouka will probably have a better long term perspective on it.
