Holy #@!*!!!!!

Wow, I had to look that up:
In 1999 Peter Dumbreck momentarily shot to world prominence when he not only survived but walked away uninjured from a horrifying high speed incident during the 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans race when his #5 Mercedes-Benz CLR somersaulted into the woods at about 300 km/h. Mark Webber had already suffered similar crashes in the #4 car during the Thursday night practice and the Saturday morning Warm-up. The remaining #6 car was retired immediately, and the team withdrew from all other planned entries in endurance racing and ALMS.

So lucky. If I thought Forza physics would account for that, I'd send letters daily to Turn 10 for them to make that exact car available via DLC. 😛

Yeah. I'd heard a long time ago that Mercedes had had to remove all of their cars from racing because they were doing flips, although I thought it was the Mercedes CLK-GTR. Although I wonder if the CLR is the racing version of the CLK-GTR...

I'm up for practice tonight if anybody is interested. Will be on at 10:00 pm EST. Doing taxes are killing me and I need a break.

Roger that, 10:00 EST - this is practice to see what our cars are doing given the restrictions. I'm still new at it but I'll BRING IT!

Thanks for the racing chorb (blortov).

I think my tune is off and i've got too much power as I've got an S902 right now. Good practice and my front end is strong but the rear end is all over the place even with 1/4 throttle input.

Sorry I didn't join y'all last night. I knew if I did though I'd only be able to play a few minutes before I went to bed. A drawback to waking up at 5:30 every morning...

What cars are you using, anyone found a decent tune for the Vantage??

I'm using a calculator tune for now to get a feel. Turn-in is great but the rear end is loose. This is all based on weight/distribution so if your car isn't a vanquish with this exact ratio the tune is no good for you.

Weight = 3875
Weight distribution = 53% front
Aero F/R = 85/130

Tires - 29/28
Camber n0.9/n0.8
Toe 0/n.02
Caster 5.4
ARB 25.2/20

Springs - 834.3/706.6
Rebound - 12.95/12.79
Bump - 9.14/8.02

Diff 50/35 (can use some work)

I think the rear might be a little stiff, but the front steers really well. Tire pressure/temps look good. Overall a good starting point.

Where did you get said calculator??

Sorry to hear it Abel, hopefully you'll get it in time for next week!!

Heck, since I'm literally going to have no free time between this Thursday and next Tuesday night (and then I'll be exhausted) to tune or paint, is there any chance we could either A) do a reeeally simple tune for next week or B) use R1/R2/R3/R4 class cars or something just to mix things up??

A few more suggestions for upcoming race nights:

Stock night! We can only use the default cars in each class, everyone gets a turn to pick the car and track, no complaining. (not sure how painting will work for this)

Rotary engine night! Grab some lube and start your Wankels. RX-7s / RX-8s at their finest.

Full damage night! (maybe limit this to 1 race a week?) will any of us actually finish a race? Probably not.
Spin off: demolition derby in beater cars. Last one running wins!

Any progress with the tune Spidey??

Picked up the last of the R class cars I needed last night (yay). Now I get to collect all the production cars...................this could take a while.....

I like all these ideas. A stock night where everyone gets to pick a car and track would let each person do a little testing with their car and track ahead of time and get practiced. Maybe give an advantage and a better shot at the win. That could be fun since only they would know what to expect on their turn.

Rotary night would be fun, too. We could just limit the PI and then allow either the RX-7 or RX-8.

I'm down for some damage races. We could try it out with limited damage and see how that goes, maybe. I've got a feeling that if there's full damage, we'd be more careful and we'd end up with cleaner races since right now, there's no consequences for plowing into people, except lost time.

Not trying to be a rabble rouser or anything but who wants "clean" races anyways? I'll admit that I don't try to knock anyone out but when I accidentally knock Spidey or someone out there is some subtle sense of satisfaction 😛

Me. If you have to push somebody out of the way you're doing it wrong and can't control your car. I noticed some purposeful wrecking/contact and that shit needs to stop.

I'll admit, I'm guilty of bumping people sometimes (it always seems to be Queasy, not sure why; it's completely unintentional, please don't ban me! 😛 ) but I try hard to race cleanly. I get satisfaction from racing hard and making a good move to get by someone or dogging them until they make an error and slipping by. It can be frustrating to be racing well and be taken out of the race by no fault of your own. I had a terrible night with the Mini, partially because of my own stupid mistakes and partially because of getting wrecked.

Eh, I look at it like being hit by a pitch in little league baseball. We're not professionals so it is more than likely just an accident...plus, it is just a game.

BTW, I once got hit by a pitch in three straight at bats during a game in Jr. High. The coach pulled me out after the third because I seemed to be a magnet for that pitcher. You didn't happen to play baseball in Midland, Michigan in the late 80s? 😉
