https://www.foxnews.com/politics/former-n-y-times-editor-rips-trump-coverage-as-biased

Just another example of what I've been saying for a while. The news is no longer even trying to be unbiased, but it because our news sources typically have a financial incentive to promote stories, they pander to their audience and spoon feed them what they think they want to hear, not necessarily what reality is. Today they're all tabloids, not news. TDS has spread far and wide and has infected our media.

Thread title edited for accuracy.

For a guy that lies as much as Trump no wonder stories are so negative. Should the NYT lie just to be more fair to Trump? Maybe if he acted like a responsible adult, coverage would be more positive.

BTW - The former editor did not say NYT engages in "fake news". You made that shit up, just like Trump.

link to fox news, lol, the irony is divine.

Summary:
- Fired executive write some disparaging remarks in a book that will be sold soon, fair and balanced Fox News can't pass up the opportunity to help her sell books.

So the "Fix is in" News network produces something and you believe it.

We'll see.

In the meantime I think Trump has a great idea. Take the wall that surrounds Obama's property and build one ten times higher on our southern, hell Northern border as well. I could do it in no time for free.

Straight up news doesn't sell as well as spin, because people don't want facts, they want to be told that whatever they believe is correct.

That that people are posting shit like this in a thread that cites a Fox News story (who routinely wildly distorts information) demonstrates an incredible lack of self awareness.

I followed some of what went on at the time. Abramson was canned for being a bad manager who never gelled with her colleagues or her boss the publisher. Baquet was the catalyst for pushing her out so people should cast a properly skeptical eye her opinions. I've never considered the NYT perfect, by any stretch, but watching Trumpists both sides this is a couple bridges to far.

As others have mentioned it is frankly hilarious that anyone would cite a Fox News article accusing another news source of being biased.

100% correct. And it does happen from both sides. The news is not really news anymore, it is all opinion pieces and certain stories that get the base going that are always highlighted.

This is actually false, it's just that you and Greenman are incapable of determining the difference. Straight up incapable. You do not possess the cognitive ability.

NY Times is not "liberal" fake news though. It's "Corporate Sensationalist" News.

It's the usual projection. In order to justify the bias of their news sources conservatives need to convince themselves that everyone else is just as biased. Otherwise, how could they justify reading that nonsense?

No news source can ever be entirely free of bias because reporting the 'straight facts' is impossible - all news reporting requires editorial judgment. The difference is that papers like the New York Times and Washington Post apply rigorous journalistic standards to what they do in an attempt to be as objective and fact based as possible. Right wing media on the other hand is an explicitly ideological organization whose purpose is not to inform their viewers and readers, but to actively disinform them to push a political agenda. I hope that someday conservatives look at the rubble of what they used to be an examine how they got here and how they ended up with Trump. A good part of it is that they were far too content with being lied to.

Sure, but it does lean left. But I will agree with your bigger point, it is the way it is probably more for profit than for pushing an ideology.

Ooh, a YouTube video from Mark Dice!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Dice

Mark Shouldice (born December 21, 1977), known professionally as Mark Dice,[1] is an American YouTube personality,[3] conspiracy theorist,[4][5] and author[4] known for his conspiracy theories about secret societies, Satanists and the Illuminati control of the world.[4][6][7][8] Dice has also attracted criticism and attention for his claim that the United States government orchestrated the September 11 attacks.

I bet the guy who thinks Satanists and the Illuminati control the world has very well thought out, coherently argued points about media bias. lol. As always, you are the greatest gift to anti-Trump people there could possibly be.

They are generally pretty anti-leftist. They don't cover any "new new deal" candidates. They rarely ever write about policy. They don't cover "justice democrats" or "democratic socialists." They focus their angst on the right, but then, they tend to activly promote neoliberal authoritarian moderates, like Obama or Hillary. They don't want to rock the boat, so, they are afraid of the left.

I think you characterized Trumpists rather well, but that doesn't necessarily apply to the rest of America.

Let us speak the truth. Trump lies & dissembles on a near daily basis. Pointing that out isn't spin. It's just good journalism. Trump's lie that a free press is the enemy of the people strikes at the heart of democracy and will, of course, raise the level of vigilance in defense of the free press as an institution of the People. When Trump threw down the gauntlet the NYT accepted the challenge. Biased? I suppose so. Anybody who values the truth is biased against Trump.

Worry about the content of the video, not the person that put it on Youtube. The fact that Mark Dice doesn't say anything in this video but simply put together examples of fake news, yet you have nothing for the content of the video but just an attack on the creator of it is telling.

‘Why won’t you take this edited video compilation from a 9/11 truther who thinks Katy Perry was engaged in an Illuminati ritual during the super bowl halftime show seriously?!’

(Guys I’m not kidding. That’s what Mark Dice believes)

Lol. Like I said, you are the gift that keeps on giving.

You clearly either didn't learn critical thinking in school or failed that class.

You absolutely consider the quality of the publisher when checking a given source. If someone frequently peddles known false claims, you don't trust their output.

There's also a tremendous irony to complaining about media bias while citing a story from Fox News, an outlet so heavily biased that its staff are allowed to appear on stage at Trump events. If you were actually going to act on principle, you would never read or watch Fox News again.

You are so full of shit. I've asked you multiple times when there is a negative Trump news story how would King of Media Slow cover the story. I get nothing but crickets. You are the worst bullshitter.

A majority of those examples aren't even stories. They are made up taking points made to get clicks and views to make money.

This "publisher" did not say or do anything other than put together a collage of video clips. The content of the link is 100% factual and created out of actual clips of major media sources. There is no voodoo here, no commentary.
