Weather, clock, calendar, GMail (thingy that tells me when I have mail).

I'll have to hunt down for a 'notepad' and 'calculator' seeing from other peoples post.
 
That was the first thing I turned off when I booted up my new laptop to the horror that is Vista.
 
I haven't used the sidebar recently, until I've added 2GB RAM to my computer. I have it up to display weather updates and the clock.
 
for those peeps that don't use it, is any for security reasons?

i haven't done any research on it but i wonder if there are any security issues regarding using sidebar/gadgets... especially if they transmit information over the net.

can a virus or trojan be sent through the gadget? i don't know... i'll have to do some research when i get time. just wondering if anyone here knows.

AFAIK HTML exploits can affect some of the gadgets. If you have updated A/V installed, it shouldn't be a problem.
 
Anyone have a good recommendation for a network monitor tool? Just looking for current speed in/out on local NIC.
