Oh, and more on-topic, I've enabled most of the WCG sub-projects, including the GPU setting, on my main rig, so it's crunching more than one WCG WU at one time now, so I should see my WCG output rise (and my correlizer and PrimeGrid output decrease).

Edit: Hmm, one of the "GO Fight Against Malaria 6.11" WUs is showing 7200.000% completion.
Edit: Nevermind, it disappeared.

Edit: After signing up for multiple WCG sub-projects, and running that TThrottle program, now my computer won't put the monitor in sleep anymore.

I've gone to power options to set the options, and change the time-out for the monitor sleep, but it apparently doesn't work anymore.

Beta - Help Conquer Cancer GPU is now available!

I was literally staring at my BOINC screen and saw it download a beta unit on my 1055T rig. 5850 kicked in a few seconds later. Watching the progress bar, it took 4:50 to crunch. Wonder how these will perform on my Nvidia cards.

Is there an opt-in process for beta WU?

Just added to Help Conquer Cancer to my project preferences - only four days away from Emerald (1Y) in Go Fight Malaria!

Next up will be fighting cancer, I believe :)

I think there are beta HCC CPU units too. My i7 970 is crunching 2 beta units by CPU and not GPU.

EDIT: Just read that the HCC CPU work units are there to verify the GPU work units. Makes sense.

I'm away from my computer, but does anyone know if there's a way to utilize the nVIDIA card in my system and not the AMD one?

Just had to shut down 2 machines (9 cores) because it is unseasonably warm in Chicago. At 03:15 it is 68*F outside and 82*F inside. My air conditioner can't keep up either.
So, the X6's and Fx8120 will stay on while the 960T and 555BE will get shut down for a bit.
My wife wasn't too happy with another electric bill above $150.

More beta work available. And more plentiful this time around.

EDIT: Just noticed that none of Nvidia cards are getting any work. Just my AMD/ATI ones. Wonder if they're beta testing just the Radeons at the moment. Anyne getting work on their Nvidia cards?

How does a NVIDIA GeForce 410M 1gig (cuda) compare in the GPU world in my laptop? is it worth using with an i5 processor and will WCG run the other 3 threads as wu?

The way I currently have it setup is 100% use of the processors and the GPU piggybacks on one of the CPU threads. Despite being a mobile GPU, the 48 CUDA cores is decent enough that I would use it.

So have we got a picture of the relative performance of ATi Vs. nVidia cards in Help Conquer Cancer GPU yet?

I just opted in for beta WUs a little while ago and haven't yet gotten any.

edit: Had a look at the WCG beta forums -- looks like the HCC GPU beta isn't for me:
* This round is GPU on Windows only.

ATI/AMD Cards Not Allowed:

Radeon HD 2900 (RV600)
Radeon HD 2300/2400/3200 (RV610)
Radeon HD 2600 (RV630)
Radeon HD 3800 (RV670)
Radeon HD 4350/4550 (R710)
Radeon HD 4600 series (R730)
Radeon (RV700 class)
Radeon HD 4700/4800 (RV740/RV770)

ATI/AMD cards require CAL Version 1.4.0 and higher.

Thanks for the update. Would explain why a 4670 in one of my work machine isn't getting any WUs.

As for the actual beta, I've accumulated 9 invalids so far. Are invalids a fairly common element in betas? This is the first time I've participated in a WCG beta so I have no prior history to draw from.

Due to the summer like conditions in Chicago (highs in the mid 80's) the last week I had to shut down all of my rigs. Now that temps are a little better (still +10*F above normal) I can turn off the air, open the windows, and not worry about any rigs overheating, or my place becoming a sauna.
I should have all 5 rigs back and crunching by tonight. It may rain today, so I can't get them all up and running and leave the windows open while at work.

Nice! Closing on the #100 fast and those rigs will get us there faster!

Hmmm, RT, have you followed rule #14? :)

"Rule #14: If a member misposts*, he/she has to crunch for the "project for the week/month" for 24 hours with all cores or the equivalent, if fewer cores are used." :D

*A mispost is: posting in wrong forum, posting way off topic without "OT"-marking, kidnapping, postnapping or threadnapping, trying to resurrect the beer-smiley and other offences, too small for mods to react to, but big enough to elicit the frustrations of other posters (observe the plural: it has to frustrate at least three other posters).

Just did my taxes today and was pleased to see that my electricity can be used as a write off because I do a lot of work from home.

Let's hope that the Chicago weather goes back to normal so I can keep all of the rigs running 24/7.

Just today we passed Sweden in the team's list and are now #101.
Only two more rungs to climb to be among the top-99!
