I did look at the 40-9 and I have to say it woudl be among my last choices for a SD weapon. The DAO system requires a full trigger pull with each round and with a 10lb trigger pulling though ~3/4" I'd hate to have to get off more than a couple shots. Also without any type of external saftey it would be much easier for someone to shoot you with your own gun, besides the stock mounted safety switch on the 5-7 the IOM and USG models will not fire without a magazine fully at home so if ever I was in a struggle over my gun all it'll be rendered impotent by dropping the clip. Besides, I have carries an XD40 and returning to sights and getting off sequential shots is substantially more difficult. I respect each opinion expressed in this thread and am not attempting to stone-wall anyone on the 5-7. I don't want anyone to get the wrong impression. I highly feel that each person has to be comfortable with the gun they're choosing for the CC. My girlfriend certainly couldn't walk around with a desert eagle for her CC, I know I wouldn't want to try. She's in love with her Sig 232 and I'll even admit it's a nice little gun. IMHO, If I need to knock a door down I'll use The Super Shorty.
