Enjoy your artificial immune system, it will fail you when you need it the most.

After reading your grandchildren thread, :D.

Ignorance and inability to raise your own children that you have to bitch about your grandkids over $10 of food. Priceless.

Flu shots are actually a conspiracy to make people sick and miss work.

What a lot of people don't realize is that viruses are not what make them "sick" and feel terrible. Sneezing, runny nose, puffy eyes, and being dead tired are caused by your immune system. That's your body kicking its own ass because it's an effective way to get rid of viruses. Even though the flu vaccine is a dead form of the virus and you're not actually infected, YOUR BODY STILL ACTS LIKE IT IS. You'll still get really damn sick for a day or two.

I always hated getting shots for things. We get some hepatitis shot at school then the next day I have a really high fever and I want to die. I would rather just risk having the flu because then there's only a chance I'll feel like shit. If I get vaccinated, I know I will feel horrible.

Do you have any underlying health conditions, are you a health care worker, and do you have any small children at home?

Working in an office environment, I don't want to get sick from a coworker. I don't want to get my nephew and my elderly parents sick who I see weekly.

And I don't want to get the flu.

Ignorant much?

What a silly post. You do know that the formula created every year is based on predications on what strains of flu will be for that current year.

So, what is highlighted is correct but I bet you don't understand why?

Does getting the flu suck?

No, having the flu does not suck, it helps you build a healthy immune system.

There was a study done that said older people who were exposed to flu years ago have resistance to the swine flu.

http://abcnews.go.com/Health/SwineFluNews/story?id=7647943&page=1

Lab tests showed that some adults, particularly those older than 60, had antibodies against the new strain, but Dr. Anne Schuchat of the CDC cautioned against reading too much into the finding.

I would rather catch the flu when I am young and healthy, and have some kind of natural resistance, then rely solely on a flu shot when I get into my 60s and 70s.

I am going to wager a study where you sign up to be infected with actual live flu virii is not goign to be a popular one. Slightly behind the "Getting Kicked in the Junk by a Mule" study.

How do I know if what I have the flu or just a regular cold?
Off the top of my head, a cold = lower fever, and snottiness whereas flu = higher fever, not so much with the snottiness and moreso with the body aches.

I completely understand why. But the fact remains that you have the same odds at the craps table in Vegas regardless.

Not to mention the lack of controlled study on other possible side effects the vaccine may have.

http://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/qa/vaccineeffect.htm

It all depends what you are exposed to, but there's no reason not to get one unless you're a paranoid retard like McCarthy.

There's prefect reasons not to get one. It's called building a proper immune system. Then again, I'm not paranoid about missing one or two days of work either.

You didn't read that article very carefully, did you?

This has led to speculation that older individuals have at least some degree of pre-existing immunity to swine flu, possibly from years of immunization with seasonal flu vaccines, which contain different H1N1 viruses than the current outbreak strain, or previous infection.

Anything else, Dr Salk?

I suggest you read this article

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/08/080817223642.htm

People exposed to the spanish flu in 1918 still had aggresive antibodies in their blood 60+ years later.

No vaccine is going to give you 60+ years of protection.

Fucking vaccines, how do they work?

Vaccines do not give you lifelong protection like exposure does. Read the above link from sciencedaily.
