I did not address it, but to pretend that it isn't the case for working people is simply asinine. If your boss calls you in to work on the weekend, you work on the weekend. People also have other concerns than their jobs too.

As I stated, this situation happens more often than you might think.

This entire discussion of "what if" is a pure smokescreen to avoid the real issue - that knowing full well the high turnout, enough resources/time/machines/workers were deliberately not provided to meet the needs of the populace. It doesn't matter what one person's individual reason is for not voting in eight days. Long lines have persisted throughout this early voting period (and likely today) which itself has been significantly shortened.

I waited like 8 minutes, had a pleasant conversation with another man in line who was telling me about the marsh land that existed where we were standing 60 years ago.

That is likely what my experience will be like. But then again I live in a rural and highly Republican area of a highly Republican state.

Broward County here, took 2 hours 15 minutes this morning. Last election was almost 3 hours. Don't care that much but do wish it was a shorter wait, along the lines of 15 minutes at the most.

I live in Tallahassee, FL. There are about twice as many Democrats as Republicans in our county (about 100,000 Dems to 50,000 Rep.) We had early voting 7AM-7PM Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri, and Sat. Our ballot was 4 pages. I voted on Fri. I had a 5 minute wait.
We could vote at the county courthouse and 4 library locations. A bit over 45,000 voted early. There were reports of lines at various times during the 8 days and there were some parking problems. I know our local library branch lot holds maybe 50 cars, and that has to include all the poll workers, library staff, library patrons, voters and people visiting the park next door.

What time on Fri did you go?

Sounds like there were various times during the 8 days where lines were long. Wonder if the lines were early morning or late afternoon? I suspect midday not much wait.

Around 2 PM. From today's paper about 47% of the registered voters voted early (in person or by absentee ballot.) Looks like, for our county, the best way to avoid lines is to vote on election day.

Though all other polls across Florida are now closed until Election Day, absentee ballots may still be requested in person and turned in by 7 p.m. Tuesday.

And in Miami-Dade, officials announced Sunday morning that the Elections Department would open its Doral headquarters (2700 NW 87th Avenue) from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. so that residents could still early vote by requesting and turning in absentee ballots.

"While state law does not permit Early Voting today, we are permitted to provide and accept absentee ballots," officials said in a release.

I did not hear about that story but this was not the only time/place to turn in an absentee ballot...

I had to wait in a fairly long line for early voting. Drove my past regular voter place and could see there were no lines at all.

I won't be doing early voting again.

I had no problem mailing in my absentee ballot.

It took me less than a minute to sign up and show my id. I had one person in front of me who was almost finished. Took another 10 minutes to complete the two page ballot.

First time I've voted yesterday in the hotly contested Pinellas County in Florida and the setup they have is terrible. I was there early and the line with probably about 25 people took 40 minutes to get thru. The two old ladies looking up your name and getting your ballot was really slow. 2/3 of the booths available was empty most time. You'd think they have this all figured out by now. It should've been 10-15 minutes to move thru and those booths should be filled up.
I voted in north Dallas last time and the line was probably three times as long and I remember it took way less time.

I'm embarrassed for my country when we can spend so much on the military but make it so hard to vote. It should be a 10 minute wait nationwide max. The reason it isn't is because the right doesn't want voting to be easy. All 50 states should move to Oregon's system. I voted in a state about 900 miles from Florida with little early voting. My wife and went to the polls in the afternoon and found ourselves about 2 back from the front of line in a 2 voting machine precinct. My wife showed her drivers license and was in out and done in less than five minutes.

As for stupid me, I played door man for some ladies and one guy who looked to be at least 90 years old as he hobbled in supported by a cane, so it took me a little while longer.

Personally I don't think my State officials are very swift, but why does Florida always manage to screw up its elections 100% of the time. Does Florida ever manage to get a single election right?

Oh well, at least we can say Florida has the virtue of being reliably consistent ever since the time of Tilden.
