No, i'm offering solutions and ideas on how to help and make a difference. You're just spouting the same old bullshit and crap that you usually do.

https://www.npr.org/2018/02/19/587121635/proposal-to-allow-guns-in-kentucky-schools
Your mind and that place where your soul should be is nothing but bullshit and crap. There is not a single "solution" you could come up with that wouldn't start and finish with being completely asinine and entirely stupid AND grenading kids (<--- that last one is worse than stupid and asinine in case you can't figure that out on your own). It's because you're soulless and therefore devoid of humanity. I'd feel sorry for you but things without souls don't deserve it.

Yup, he's an nra whore. At least he admits it. I wonder how president snowflake is going to spin this event.
What would we hear if we could peer into Rubio's head? Would it be him telling himself you can have my support when you pry those NRA cash contributions from my cold dead hands?

Watching morning joe, one of the Fathers essentially said, I have seen the security camera video of my daughter being shot in the back. There is no way anybody would be able to shoot back in a crowded hallway with people running around in it

There is a lot that could possibly go wrong. I'm also curious what the liability landscape looks like for this. Districts can self insure but what happens if there is an incident and people are inadvertently wounded or killed by an employee with a firearm. Or a staff owned firearm is lost and used in a crime.

Needless to say this is not going to be a popular suggestion in a lot of places.

Ok now he's edging back to where he kind of ended up in the listening session:

NRA flatly and openly opposes the increased age tho. Also probably will oppose a bump stock ban.

I think the states are going to do stuff like this sooner rather than later. Congress likely not until it's turned over.

Has anyone seen any info/discussion on how the shooter was able to carry a long gun (rifle), presumably out in the open, from his car, across school lawn, through front door and up to the 3rd floor with no one noticing?

Fern

He took a Uber btw, and well as far as getting to the school because unfortunately it's legal. Thank you NRA.

Hey if he can get it done great. I don’t give a shit who does it just get it done. If he can I will rightfully praise him for taking advantage of congresses willingness to support him.

That being said this kind of talk has happened before. Bump stocks were a no brainer after Vegas from reps on both sides of the aisle but we are still talking about it.

He also pushed for more background checks and better mental health care.

Remember that after Sandy Hook, almost nothing happened. For us to get universal background checks alone would be a HUGE victory for gun control.

Remember watch what they do not what they say because trump just squashed mental health restrictions for guns some 6 months ago lol.

He relatively often makes suggestions and proposals that aren't actually followed up with any kind of political push by the administration on Congress. So nobody should hold their breath.

You’ll never convince the gun super fans that that’s the case.

Without a gun they are convinced they will be victims of a, mentally ill “lone wolf”, “thug”, “gang member” or “terrorist”.

With a gun they can be a hero. The more rational will admit they may still die but they will “go down shooting”.

In reality they may stop an attack or
  • They may never have a shot
  • They may miss
  • They may miss and hit someone else
  • They may miss and hit a cop
  • They may lose their weapon and be shot with it
  • They may be misidentified and shot by police
  • They may be misidentified and shot by another gun owner

Background checks must have strict rules. Trump weakened the background check system during the past year so getting back to where we started is just the bare minimum.

I'll just throw this out there and leave you all to your collective insanity.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/02/16/nra-money-isnt-why-gun-control-efforts-are-failing-commentary.html

My specific point about posting the link is about your comment about NRA cash donations.

And btw, I'm not a member of the NRA

What would we hear if we could peer into Rubio's head? Would it be him telling himself you can have my support when you pry those NRA cash contributions from my cold dead hands?

I think it's a reasonable question to ask if the near-certain knowledge there won't be anyone armed at a school (because of "schools are a gun free zone" laws), the likely lack of any armed opposition makes a school a more inviting target for a would-be shooter.

My quick scorecard for the idea of "arming teachers to prevent mass shootings"

On the pro-side of the argument:
  • We put armed air marshals on planes to provide a deterrent and it seems to work (not many hijackings lately) so we do have at least one proof of concept
  • It makes intuitive sense that shooters would avoid places having lots of people with guns, such as police stations and gun stores, and indeed relatively few shootings do seem to occur in these places
  • If we just used existing CCW permits holders who volunteered, it would be relatively cheap and fast to implement compared to alternatives (like getting Congress to pass new laws)
On the con side of the argument:
  • Plenty of other places are likewise pretty devoid of guns (e.g. hospitals, churches, etc) and yet these places don't seem to be targeted for mass shootings, so link of "gun free zone = more shootings" seems tenuous at best
  • The logistics and legalities of arming teachers as a policy seem daunting if not nigh impossible to implement at scale
  • It's unclear the concept that teachers would be an effective deterrent or stop an active shooter, could make situations worse

This is going to be a red letter day for Democrats. Trump tweets about common sense gun laws and his base starts to revolt. Win win situation.

Ok let's just assume that no significant change in gun laws is going to happen. Let's say we get universal background checks but that's all. What ideas do you have to try to protect kids in school under those circumstances?
