For all the people flaming Ornery, I think it's pretty safe to say that Newegg has built its success on word-of-mouth in the online PC enthusiast community. While I would have unwaveringly recommended them two years ago, there have been several reports in the past year that have hinted at disreputable business practices and customer service tactics. While I don't think these reports are enough to write off Newegg as a reliable company (as many have stated, MANY people have had and continue to have excellent experiences ordering from Newegg), the frequency and nature of these complaints against Newegg are disturbing. Let's hope that these isolated incidents are just growing pains and not a sign of things to come.

I have ordered well over $25,000 worth of parts from newegg in the past year. I have never recieved a part that had even a hint of prior use. I have had a few parts go bad and need rma'ing and they have all been taken care of without a single problem. All of these problems were a manufacturing defect and 1 or 2 may have been DOA.

Just about every other company I have tried to buy parts from has given me some reason to go back to Newegg. I am by no means a blind follower as I am always looking for the best service and price. That said, Newegg is hands down the best etailer for computer parts I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with.

i am willing to bet a lot of these so called horror stories are just to get stuff free or cheaper.

Hell almost everyday here we have someone asking more or less how to use a warranty or guarantee to their advantage with the latest asking is it wrong to return a plasma tv to costco after two years so that they can upgrade....(costco has a two year satisfaction guarantee apparently and this guys friends use it to upgrade their machines yearly as well)...

Everytime I need something it seems they have revised their return policy, or shortened the warranty, or are no longer doing this or that due to abuse a la the microsoft mouse issues.

To me this is no different than stealing.

What a bunch of fvcktards!

Number one: NewEgg IS shipping used merchandise as new. How could you consider this to be "a mistake"? You're saying that the returned items "accidently" made their way into the bin of new parts? Yeah, right.

Number two: My bigger peeve is the guff people have to take from NewEgg fanbois, when they post the FACT that they got used stuff instead of new. It's not enough to "make good" on the transaction, by replacing it ASAP. The fact that they tried to pull this shlt SHOULD be brought to light, and not jump on the messenger!

Number three: As it turns out, I've only made one purchase from NewEgg in the past. I thought it was more than that. I'll buy from places with a lot worse ratings than NewEgg. I'll take my chances in order to get a hot deal. If I get burned, I'll post about it to warn others. If I catch any of the guff these unhappy NewEgg customers are getting, what you fvcktards call trolling is going to seem like a GD fairy tale in comparison to the flaming shlt from hell, coming your way!

It's not just NewEgg, and the term used is a little strong in this sense.

You'd be surprised though how edit: most = many retailers will reshrinkwrap returns sometimes without an inspection.

It's the way business is done now...I don't like it, but usually you can tell the items that are from forums or contacting them directly and asking/insisting you get 'new'.

There are many mom and pops that don't care at all.

It's not a common practice, and that is not what I meant.

You seriously need to stop with the battle.net insults (unless you're trying to convince us you're 12, in which case keep it up - it's working splendidly). I'd also think about changing your sig, as it's in direct contradiction to your stance in this thread, which makes you look quite foolish. Again, I'm sorry you're one of the very, very few who've had a bad experience with Newegg. It sucks to get the short end of the stick, no two ways about it. However, aside from making enemies, voicing your vendetta in this manner is doing nothing to hurt their business; if anything, keeping this thread on page 1 is helping them; you've heard the saying "No such thing as bad publicity", yes? You've also utterly hijacked the thread, about which the OP can't be too happy.

Hey, shlt for brains, I've never had a problem with NewEgg... NEVER! My problem is with the fanbois giving grief to the people who blow the whistle on this BS. And now, Alkemyst says that not only was it not a mistake, but that this is common practice. This is news to me. How about you, Carnac?

 I wonder if, in a week or so when the poor kid calms down a bit, he'll give us the "Omg I'm sorry, my kid / younger brother logged on and posted as me" routine ;) At any rate, I'm not going to argue with someone young enough to resort to personal insults. I hope you don't have another experience like the one you had with Newegg.

Agreed, Newegg rocks. My only real complaint is that their selection could be bigger. When I have to order electronics or electronics-related products that they don't carry I always find myself a bit surprised, then disappointed because I'll have to go find another reputable online retailer who does carry it (I try to stay with online stores, as their prices are usually better). Even if I do find a reputable one, they usually charge $10 or more to ship something small and lightweight, and it without fail is shipped UPS ground, which takes 1-2 weeks to arrive :disgust: I'm about to build an HTPC, which will involve approximately $600-$700 worth of purchases, I'll be getting everything from Newegg of course (that figure includes a video card upgrade for my gaming rig).

Never said common practice, sh!t for brains is you thinking that or trying to elude that to discredit...but I did make a mistake in my post saying most instead of many....but perhaps if you structured WTF you were saying more clearly other's would know what you were talking about.

newegg treats their customer with respect and will rma more then once if needed unlike most other vendors; they will just ignore you, and will not care about your dissatisfaction either:thumbsup:
althought half of the time, their defective I mean refurbish products is bad it is still better then paying alot more for new product that maybe defective as well. It sucks doesn't it? that today quality control are so out of whack that we lay blame on newegg instead of the manufacturer's irresponsibility and poor service.

HTF could I be MORE clear? Jesus H Christ, you tards are thick!
  1. Do you believe they sent used parts to those OPs, or not?
  2. If you believe they did, do you think it was a mistake?
  3. If it wasn't a mistake, is that acceptable?
  4. Would you lay down and just take it, or post a negative about your favorite etailer?
  5. Would you give somebody grief for doing just that?

I bought a power supply back in March and they were running a special that when you buy this part they'll ship you a free NewEgg T-Shirt. A month later I spotted it and I called them up only to see if that special was running at the time of my purchase, the lady I spoke to was very nice, she told me that it was going on at that time and offered to ship it to me without me even suggesting it. The shirt came to me as 2nd day shipping. I'm kind of new to NewEgg, as a matter of fact I've only been buying my parts from them for only 4 months now. During that time I have been satisfied with them and no problems as of yet. I'm not defenending on what happen with the case, could have been a shipping problem, vendor, NewEgg, etc., but I think that I would try to RMA it before flaming them.

They do have a section for suggestions located on the front page, scroll down a bit and on the left just under where you sign up for their Newsletter.

doesnt newegg have a 1 year warranty on most, if not all new item sold?
so after 11 months of use, I RMA'ed and it was covered. The hassle free RMA is the BEST!@#$$%^&*()_+
