No need to install, just unzip and use.

Firefox 3 still uses a large amount of RAM (mainly due to the nature of XUL), but they've plugged a lot of memory leaks. Compared to FF2, it uses less memory and runs like a roadrunner. The embedded SQlite database opens up many new features.

Thanks for that link. I've known about portable apps for awhile, but never really looked into it. I'm now using their standard launcher, with a couple of additions. That will be handy on occasion when I need to use personal settings on a foreign computer.

FF3 is pretty nice. I don't have any problems with FF 2.x, but I'm now looking forward to the final release of FF3.

Opera for the win. can't wait till they release version 9.5. (currently 9.27) has a lot of the features that FF3 is touting and had them first.

Yeah same here. I had Opera installed, but some stuff just wouldn't work. It was weird.

you are doing something wrong.
i'm running a e2200 with 2gb ram. 95 tabs..yes.. 95tabs. the tab build up is from over a week of just letting stuff accumulate. cpu use is minimal even now. firefox works fine. i use flashblock/pdfdownload/tabmixplus/fission/downthemall/downloadstatusbar/cacheviewer/allinonegestures/aging tabs/adblock/filteset.g

I found with Opera, it helps to expand the cache size (say to 100MB), and check that box that says Empty on Exit. Works great after that.

Wow, I just tried to download a torrent with Opera, and it started downloading it on it's own! Not bad.

i like firefox but its true I find its been getting more and more resource hungry compared to what it was when mozilla suite was still around. Hopefully FF3 fixes that issue. i tried it but it did not fully import my bookmarks properly so went back to 2.0, given 3 is still beta so I'll wait till final and see if book marks work, if not then I'll just redo them at that point. It does look nice from what I see though.

Opera is also another nice browser and I think its free now.

I can't remember when opera wasn't, they had adds at the top, but its always been free.

I remember when Opera had a pay version and a free, ad-supported version. They've been totally free for quite a while now.

Tried the latest ff v2 again. It doesn't look as good as ie7. It could be the fonts but this is on both xp and vista (fresh installs).

Getting tired of this - mainly dicking with moving my favorites back and forth. Going to try opera next.

Opera, I love.

IE7 with IEpro, I love.

Firefox with Plugins(Mainly ad's :D), I love.

What do I use most? Opera! Why? No addons needed and it's faster.

As of today I'm done with FF until they make a stable version that doesn't suck down the resources. So when does FF3 come out?
