Cashed out from PartyPoker today for $119 (not bad given a $50 investment last week; my bonus was $10 and I earned the rest). 😀

Will be depositing in either Paradise or PokerStars -- probably PokerStars, given what I've heard so far.

Read all the past posts about poker online and itll show ive been tellin you guys to go to pokerstars. Ive tried them all and pokerstars is the best so far. They have sent the last 2 WSOP winners to the tourny. They had 4 of the final 9 players. Much better graphics and tons of different tournys. They even showed the final table of this years WS hand by hand as it was happening. They have deposit bonuses all the time, all the sites do it.

Better graphics? I hate the interface at PokerStars. 😕

The rest of it is OK, though. I'm playing some penny NL hold'em right now because I'm bored. 😀

I'd go for poker stars for $50 (heh, sounds like a game show) and stash the rest in Neteller. Paradise is a good room, but I'd also think about Ultimate Bet. Their graphics are different and the games are looser. Good .25/.50 games. Players either love 'em or hate 'em. Anybody check into a tourny at PS yet?

PS tourneys are by far the hardest of any site, but I love their 2 table tourneys.

P.S., anyone out there want to change some pokerstars cash for paradise cash?

I have a friend who plays poker online almost nonstop. He has a gambling problem I think!!

FWIW, I think last year's World Series of Poker winner Chris Moneymaker played a lot of poker online before he started doing real tournaments...

Yeah, the 2-table tourneys have been so far. Played in a large tournament earlier, came in around 60th (out of 280). Got beat on a full house vs. a better full house -- he caught a J on the river (board K K 6 8) to land a jacks full, beating my 6's full. :|

Really? What has your win% been? In general, I found the $5 tourneys on any site except PS are winnable if you follow Abdul's advice EXACTLY, except take all suited connecters up +1/+2.

Also, the two things about no limit that takes most people forever to figure out :

1. *NEVER* raise unless you know exactly what to do if someone reraises. This is fairly important in limit, but in no limit it really is the key.

2. Specifically for tournaments, try to play in a way that decisions are obvious. Here is the classic example.

You are the BB, and you have 2 limpers with below average stacks. You feel like you have an excellent chance to steal the pot (THIS IS THE KEY STATEMENT - if there is any good chance you think they'll call then the gameplan is completly different), and come in for 10-20% of their stacks. Which hand is this the better play?

1. J8
2. 99

Answer : J8. Why? With J8, the plays are obvious. If they call, your folding unless you flop bigtime. Bigtime here is J8, 77, JJ, with 9T being debatable (~32% to hit the str8). Otherwise, your fold to any opposition. You fold to any reraise. Now look at what happens with 99. They raise you. Now what? They call you, and rags flop, and they bet into you. Now what? Did they hit trips? Is there a hidden str8 in there? Did they hit a 4 flush with a pair? One overcard hits, a K. They bet into you. The bet is right in so many sistuation you can't place them on a pair. With 99 you just put yourself into a really dangerous sistuation, with J8 you pretty much know the right players. I'm not saying that trying this play with 99 is a bad idea, but it is begging for a lot of trouble with a lot of flops.

Note that to understand the above there is another key concept you need to understand in tournaments : marginally good EV is not good enough to call in a lot of sisutations.

BTW, this hand is the one place where tourney play and ring play are completly different. The raise with J8 would almost never be the right play in ring.

First day at PokerStars and I'm getting crushed. Doing OK at the ring games, but have finished 1 short of the money and 2 short of the money, respectively, in the tournaments so far. The competition is better here, it seems.

i usually play at the local card clubs, but just started playing online. am a little hesitant about people cheating and playing together and stuff.

I would but see I live in Nevada, where we have, y'know, real gambling. 😛

I think I'll try out the real thing before I do online stuff.

Back to back WSOP winners from pokerstars. 4 of the final 9 were from pokerstars as well.

This honestly doesn't surprise anyone. It's much eaier to Q online then fork over $10K. I'm curious how many of that final table had no intention of going if they didn't win it online.
